Re: ground hog
Rick, a .22 mag. should do the trick.
Expecting a carjacker or rapist or drug pusher to care that his possession or use of a gun is unlawful is like expecting a terrorist to care that his car bomb is taking up two parking spaces

Re: ground hog
watch Caddyshack again - that guy had some good ideas!! LOL
Re: ground hog
Put out some corn, catch him out & shoot him. I had one under my deck & tried a live trap & never could catch him. I didn't really care at the time until I saw him chase off 2 racoons one night over some corn. He surprised me at how mean he was and I had a toddler running around at the time. I caught him out one morning. He tried to make it back under the deck but didn't make it. Maybe try a smoke bomb ?

Re: ground hog
Ricky,
Run him down and get a shock collar on him quick, before he gets in the digging habit. I'd probably start the correction level out on 4 or 5
Seriously if its in a place you can, a 22 would be the easy remedy.

Re: ground hog
use a foot trap.cover pan with wax paper then shift dirt over it.set off to one side a little not in middle of trail.also set the pan tension so it has alittle pressure on it before it goes off.by tighting pan screw.should be very easy to catch.good luck Ken

set a snare at the hole this is the best and surest way to get ground hogs,I do wildlife control and snares are the top choice .Good luck.

Re: ground hog
I catch groundhogs all the time in my yard using a live trap baited with apple or any kind of melon.
Re: ground hog
After you catch that HOG you can have a barbeque. Sure is some good eatin.

Re: ground hog
When I was a boy we used to find their dens in early April and dig out the babies and make pets of them. they were really cool until they got too big and we let them loose. If you find the den (should be a worn path to it) chances are the groundhog has seen you coming and has retreated to it. we used to have hounds ( mix feist, cur, etc) that would chase them to the hole and when we dug them out they would kill them. I even had a beagle mix once that was pretty tough. Dig it out and dispatch it with a .22 and pressure cook, barbecue and crock pot it, a lot like (you guessed it) CHICKEN!

Re: ground hog
Bouttime,
DRamey is correct as we used to put them in a pressure cooker and cook them until they fall of the bones. Remove the bones and place into a crock pot and add your favorite barbeque sauce and let it slow cook so the meat can absorb the sauce. My mom used to ccok me coon the same way but the only thing with coon is you got to get ALL the fat off of it or the smell when cooking will drive you from the kitchen! Ground hog doesn't have that strong order when cooking. I've also eaten muskrat fried just as you would rabbit. Pretty tasty too.
