East Tn.

Post by Shady Grove Beagles »

Hey DoubleB,Plowboy,Greg,Jack or any others that might have info. that would help.
As some of you guys know my wife and I are in the process of building a house in Monroe County outside of Madisonville.Spent several weeks over there in March and we now have the house framed up in the dry.
While we were over there we had a guy hauling gravel to build up the driveway.Only way onto our property is across a creek on a old farm bridge that has been there for years.Third time over the bridge gave way and dropped dumptruck and driver 12 feet down into the creek.Wish I knew how to post those pics. on here as it was something to see!!!!!Cost us $800. to get a huge wrecker to haul him out.
We obviously need to rebuild our bridge.Any of you guys in that part of the state know of any sources for used "I" beams? Need them at least 35 feet long and at least 16" high with a 6"flange and probably at least 5/8 or better thickness.Found a scrap yard here in middle Tn. that sells used beams at .20 cents a pound but don't really want to pay trucking over to east Tn.
Any help/info. greatly appreciated.

Thier is a place in Rockwood , I'll have to find the name but Athens would be a lot closer. If my goose neck was a little bigger , it's only 24' I'd haul them for you , but I think 11' over hang would cause trouble !!

Hey guys
Thanks much for the info.We have a guy by the name of Joe Hicks who will probably be building the bridge for us.He came well recommended as someone who has built lots of bridges around the surrounding counties. He's also looking and trying to get us the best deal on steel. It's going to be a pricey project no matter how we look at it and we certainly were not counting on it! Probably set back the house project a bit while we try to get the $ stuff together.LOL
One good thing though. While working on the property saw/jumped numerous rabbits!Don't really have enough room to run right there but have 6 acres and a good spot for a several acre starting pen.Sssshhhh! Don't tell the wife yet.I want to break it to her slowly.LOL

Dana,
Give me a call tomarrow night at home or 423-595-3601. I have hunted with Ray Seaton(Seaton Metal that Brain mentioned) on several occasions. I know he would have what you need. He has more scrap metal than anyone around. Greg
