I think Jerry Lee has been sold. I was at a hunt 2 weekends ago and talking to Brad Hill and I believe he said that Jeremy Worley (sp) owned him now.

I sent Jim Lane an E-mail to let him I konow I wanted to breed my bitch to Ozzie and get a couple of pups out of jim's breeding so if all go's well within the next year there oughta be some good old blood right here in Pike County IN :D
A guy's got to build his kennel some how and I really like what I hear about that old blood and that's what I want like Jim says "gundogs like grandpa used to talk about"

Here is one of his latest: http://www.alamocreekkennel.zoomshare.com/7.html - And there were six in this litter. I don't know about two, but four of them in this litter all started at about 3 1/2 months and one of them I know circled it's own rabbit at 4 1/2 months old. I know of only a few others and they are all good, but are owned buy gun hunters and they don't trial. I believe they would do well {in a trial} if given the opportunity. Now there are many out there by his litter mates, they were bred more often and those pups are very good and very successful throughout the trialing circuits.

I really don't think Ozzie has been bred all that much. The only dog I really know of out of Ozzie is LP GRCH Hill's Shakerag Big Easy. Jerry Lee is out of Hill's Shakerag Sid and Hill's Shakerag Heidi. Ozzie's littermates I think are LP GRC Hill's Shakerag Shamrock and LP GRC Clarks Shakerag Jasper.

Well, in case many that don’t know these guys or their dogs, Matthew Dillian McRae was inducted in 2002 into the Hall of Fame {competition hound}, Hill's Shakerag Macrae {Ozzie’s Sire} was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2004 {Reproducer} and Kenneth and Nick Hill were inducted in the Hall of Fame themselves, in 2006. I’m sure they have a few more hounds on the way. They obviously know what their doing, and doing it right. Now I have asked a few people which of the “Shakerag” dogs were the best. Jim Lane told me that it depended on what you liked and wanted them for. He said he judged most of them at one point and he has had Ozzie for a while now. He said you couldn’t beat Jerry Lee when it came to sure grit and will power, Dillan could flat out pound a rabbit no questions asked, they had a Shamrock dog that was good, you couldn’t ignore the producing power of Macrae but he said of course he was biased towards Ozzie. Jim did say Ozzie was not as “competitive” as Dillan and Jerry Lee and a few others. He said when Ozzie is running a rabbit it is like he has blinders on like a horse pulling a buggy. No other dog, human, airplane, cars or anything else is on his mind but rabbit on the brain, where some of those others, he said were out for blood in a trial. He said for gun hunting or especially “soloing” a rabbit Ozzie is as good as it gets. But he said you could flip a coin and be proud to have any of these dogs. But hey, Ozzie did Grand out in the Little Pack and the Progressive Pack and in the UKC, all in the Field and Bench, and I have seen Ozzie myself and he is the real deal, so there can’t be a whole lotta difference between any of them. I would like some input from more people that seen them all first hand. Oh, and I asked Jim if Ozzie would retrieve? He said “Bev told me he would and I couldn’t see a beagle retrieving a rabbit, mainly because most of mine tear them up if I don’t beat them to it simply because I tease them when their young with rabbits. But sure enough, Ozzie will bring every rabbit you shoot right back to your feet. He will hang onto it if other dogs are around, but if he is alone, he will bring it and drop it at your feet and look up, you pat him on his head and he’s off to jump another rabbit. That dog plays no games in the field”. Jim said people are missing out on some of the best blood in the Country. Shakerag don’t advertise, they don’t pay to get an article about themselves in a magazine, they don’t have a website nor do they toot their own horn every time you turn around. The people that know to get their dogs, comes from others by “word of mouth” and their advertisement is found in the “hunt results” section of the magazines.

You really can’t go wrong there, Jim treated me and my friend right. A while back I contacted Jim and wanted a couple of pups. Jim told me up front that he had none at that time for sale. I called him back and asked him if he knew anybody or had any friends that had a similar bloodline to his that had any pups for sale. He made a few calls and called me back and said he knew of somebody that had a few pups that were for sale. My friend and I bought the pups. Jim picked them up from WV and sent them to us the same day with the puppy papers and pedigrees, {Indian Hill & Dingus}. Right after we bought the pups we had some problems out of them and we took them to the vet. They had a “severe” case of Coccidiosis. Also one of the pups was already 15” at 5 months old. We called Jim. I knew these pups did not come from his kennel but we did get them from him, and I was hoping he would give us some help. When I told him the situation I didn’t even get a chance to request anything. Jim not only apologized, but he replaced our pups with his pups, he paid for our vet bills {almost $400.00} and he paid for the shipping {from Ohio to Missouri}. All we had in the pups was $200.00 for each pup. I feel like I still owe him! And I have to tell you, these “replacement pups”, money could not buy. At 9 months old we were gunning over these pups. These were pups from an earlier litter that Jim was going to keep for himself. The pups that we got are out of his Dingus male but I am going to try to get an Ozzie pup if at all possible. Not many breeders are so “eager” to make things right. For a lot of breeders, once you buy the dog no matter what the circumstances are, you are on your own. These are great guys with a good line of hounds. And if you ever talk to Jim, you will find that he is a walking “beagle encyclopedia”. I never talked to a breeder that is willing to talk about their dog’s faults as well as their strengths.

Yeah Davis Farms I've talked to jim a couple times and I don't think you could find a more Honest guy that's for sure. I'm gonna breed my bitch to Ozzie this spring, if everything works out I should have some ozzie pups here in Indiana. I also Got a couple of Ten month old pups out of a Alibaba cross that Ringtail Made and I've been gunnin over them all season and thay are tuff as thay come.
My plans are to get pup or two from jim and raise a litter out of Ozzie, plus I got a litter now with my bitch and Ringtails alibaba Dog that should make some fine hounds. Thay sure do got me excited :D But I'm gonna take the crosses I have already and cross it in with some of Jims breeding and hopefully get me a good line started and keep it going.

I have been on Ringtail’s website and I really like what he has. He says he likes “Old School” Branko and he names Jack Of All Trades and I love that "older" stuff. Jack Of All Trades, White Blizzard, Close Call Girl, if they are pretty close up than Dingus and Anna’s Ann is pretty close up. I would say Jim’s stuff would defiantly cross well with that stuff, either male that he has, {pedigree wise} you never know until you try it and get them in the field.

Bev, what is ozzys registered name? Just curious because I have a tri-color male named Ozzy too which is not the same dog but sounds like him. Mine is Peercys Bring Em To Me Ozzy. I bought him off a man in BeaverDam, Ohio area. He is a awesome dog and will not leave my home.

He has a few titles in front of his name, but without them it's Hill's Shake Rag Ozzie.

Here's a page on him. I haven't updated my own kennel site in ages. He was about 8 years old in these pics:

I own LP. CH.& PP. CH. Hills shake Rag Racket. Racket is turning 4 in Jan. 09. Have bred her one time out cross to Ace in the hole line bred male . Have A male pup 8 mo. old started when he was 4 mo. old that will run like 4 year old. I like the shake rag dogs. They have gears and the brains to use them.
