SNOWED IN!!!!!

Snowed in here in Michigan today...this really stinks as I have the next two weeks off of work and NOW we get a foot of new snow. How long do you guys think COTTONTAILS wait after a big snowstorm like this before they get back out of hole and feed again??? I really, really wanted to hunt a LOT this Christmas break, but its not starting off on the right foot.

I hear you Tony. I've cleaned the driveway 4 times today. I got about 17 " of snow today. Have been looking forward to running, but I know they're going to be hard to find now.

They will come out in a day or 2 but wont move far from cover and they will only run to the nearst hole.

We already set a December record (over 30") and the month isn't even over yet. Went out today, shot 2 and Hammer caught one, snow is over my knee's, time to break out the snowshoes already. Weather man predicting another 5" to 6" tonight/tomorrow. My son just got home from college, (Michigan Tech, U.P.) and he says it looks just like Houghton here at home!

I know absolutely NOTHING about buying snowshoes, but I am gonna have to learn quickly here because they are calling for up to 7 more inches tonight and tomorrow...and I dont care HOW MANY DANG RABBITS are out, I am going to stay home with 30 mile an hour winds predicted for tomorrow...this really sucks.

What kind of snowshoes work best for rabbt hunting?

Green Mountains, they are 10" x 36", some people call them modIfied Bear Paws. Bear Paws are too wide, you will have very sore groin muscles after a day on them, and Alaskans are too long to get around in the brush. I use the old style wooden frame with the stretched rawhide, also I use the GV rubber bindings.

I am feeling everyones pain!!! I was planning on getting mine out for the first time this weekend and low and behold more of the dang white stuff this morning. Like the wind wasn't enough! Heading home to TN. on Wed. for a week maybe I should carry the dogs with me so I can run em this season.

i hate to think of myself as a fair weather hunter, but ot been real tough this year.
since deer season ended been hunting about ten days, only had one and a haif day where The running has been fair at best

We have winds right now about 25-30 mph and lake effect snows...looks like we could get another 3-6 inches on top of what fell last night. My dogs are literally snowed into their houses. I gotta go out and poke some holes if they dont come out on their own soon...I will be very grateful if I can get out ANY this week at all. Michigan sucks.

0* winds 30 mph from the west. It is bone chilling out side. We got that slush storm 2 nights ago on top of 4 inches of snow. Its so cold that the slush first turned into 2 " of ice and now the wind is starting to move that around. White-out conditions. Global warming my butt. It looks like the dawn of the new Ice age.
