I need help with pup!

Post by Operator 181 »

I have a 8 month old pup. She's a good looking dog, a little shy , she hunts hard but I don't think she knows what she is suppose to be smelling. Do you think buying a tame rabbit to train her with would help. If so what breed of rabbit. Any feed back would be most appreciated Thank you Phil

Find a starting pen close to you or you have to find a loaded lot (rabbits) and and keep putting her on the fresh scent. If you don't have another dog to help show her, i would take her to a starting pen. It will save you a lot of time! :check:

Good luck.

I have used tame rabbits to start a dog before . If you look at the classified adds in your local news paper sometimes there is free rabbits . I just took them to my back yard and let the pup catch them . Tame rabbits won't run very much the pups will catch them . When you are finished with the rabbit they make a great meal .

Get her out of her shyness first and then take her to a good training pen or take
her to the strips at night with a slower dog .
