Rabbit Population

Does it seem to be up or down for the year compared to last year.
Seem to be really bad in South West Mo.

We had a very mild Summer with adv. rainfall here in Eastern NC. I'm seeing alot of rabbits this year. I ran Sunday morning with 6 dogs and at times there were splits on different rabbits with sliders seen, the dogs pushed them out while running other rabbits.

Swing, I hope your numbers improve ...we have had bad years here also.

Good Luck :check:

Here in south central Ms. I'm not seeing rabbits like I did last year. Still got rabbits but just seems to be down some. Was told the lp hunt @ Richton, Ms. a couple weeks ago was terrible as far as running. Just didn't seem to have rabbits was what I was told by a judge. Also was told the bp hunt in Baileyton, Al was a bust this past weekend with very little rabbit running. My hunting buddy said he never saw a rabbit race. Had some deer running though. Only took a total of 160 pts. to win it I was told.

Hare population in Maine seems to be up to me. Unfortunately the population of coyote and bobcat is way up too.

I don't know where you MO boys have been huntin. But the rabbits are thick as fleas on a hound here in my part of SW MO.We've had allot of rainfall this year and cover has been very abundant.
Maybe yall need some dogs to find you some more rabbits lol "just kidding' - "sarcasim alert''

Either that or their dogs don't have as many fleas so they don't get to see as many rabbits

Hey swing come on down here and we'll hunt some bunnies if you aren't finding any in your neck of the woods.Maybe I can talk Talldog into guiding us.I have him to thank for most of my hunting spots,he's a great guy and a fine guide - he knows where the bunnies are hiding.

Where at in southwest Mo if you don't mind me asking. If I remember right it seems like I've seen a video or two that you shot somewhere around lamar? thats a ways from where I live but there ought to be lots of rabbits up that way.If you ever get up around Mt vernon there is some good hunting at the Robert E Talbot CA check it out on MDC.Its a ways from here too but I try to make it up there once in a while. http://www.missouriconservation.org - find the conservation atlas and select lawrence county.
good hunting.
