I feel the need for speed, after watching that. Wait, I'll just walk out and pet my dogs. Glad I have the ones I got. Shawn

My wife had never seen walky talkies so she asked me what those dogs were doing. I told her they were running a rabbit, she started laughing and said they aren't moving. I told her to look again and she said "Oh they are moving." She then laughed all the way up the stairs.

Just think how much you would save. No tracking collars of shocking collars required. One tame rabbit and a two foot high fence around your back lawn and you could enjoy hound music.

Those two dogs belong to TBrabbitman. He runs them dogs everyday, and is getting them ready for the next AKC trial.

Anyone think those dogs traits were the results of training or were they just soloed to much as pups?

I saw a dog like this that could run a deer pretty fast, but when it was a rabbit it was back to blowing holes in the ground.

This was The style in the "Good Old Days" at most clubs in the Northeast. Can you imagine a trial with these "walkie talkie's" :hammer: and gun dogs together? The gundogs were ALWAYS picked up for skirting. Great video! Need a real warm pair of boots to hunt with those critters.

You don't have to worry about losing them if they get on a off game chase or trying to run them down. I think you could take a Big Nap, and still have time to catch them.

I owned rejects from brace trialing back in the 70's. The hounds I owned weren't so much rejected because they weren't like the ones in the video so much as they had other faults. One would raise his head and bawl when he was running, another was bench-legged but they could get the rabbit back to the gun. My conclusion is that from the '70s to now, they have slowed them until it's ridiculous. There is no earthly way you could gun over those hounds. Consider that a speed of 1. The brace hounds from 1970-75 that I owned were 5's-6's easy. My worst problem with them when I was a boy was that it sometimes took them a while to jump the rabbit, but they did know how to jump one. My uncle from New Eagle, Pa. gunned over his brace hounds every winter. That video was painful to watch, and I think I need to see the eye doctor this week, 'cause it think it affected my vision. I think i will save that, so when my hounds have a bad day in the field I can come home and feel better about them.
