THE BEST I KNOW OF IS BUELL JOHNSON DINHA DOG. SHE HAS PROVEN HERSELF TIME AND TIME AGAIN. LAST YEARS RUNNER UP AND GOING TO BE THIS YEARS TOP FEMALE. THAT IS IF THE DOGS GET TO THE TRIALS. I THINK SHE ALREAY HAS 6 DOGS PLACING ALREADY THIS YEAR. EVERY DOG OUT OF THIS BITCH THAT I HAVE SEEN IS A RABBIT HOUND THAT DRIVES THE LINE. SHE IS FORSHRE ONE OF THE BEST REPRODUCING BITCHES IN THE COUNTRY. IF YOU BOYS HAVENT HERD OF HIM I WOULD BE TRYING TO BOOK A PUP OUT OF HIS BITCH. This is a great thread!!!! Glad to see that people understand that great dogs are made from a great bitch line and not just males. My dad raised some really nice contest horses and he was always talking about and focusing on his females he had in the barn and not the studs. Go talk to some of the million dallor horse owner/breeders in KY and see what they focus on more.

I THINK A BREEDING PROGRAM HAS TO START WITH A GOOD FEMALE, THERE ARE A LOT OF GOOD STUDS, OUT THERE OR SO PEOPLE SAY'S, BUT THE GOOD FEMALES ARE FEW AND FAR TO BE FOUND,THAT IS WHY I BREED FOR THE FUTURE AND NOT JUST THE LITTER ,ON THE GROUND. Hard to say isn't it. Some bitchs have 2 litters a year/some one, some get bred every year some have large litters/some have only one or two pups, some get all their pups in trials and some only one out of a litter of 7. That said there is too many variables. You would need info like # of time bred and whelpings, # of pups , # of pups trialed to figure it out properly and how the pups were as gun dogs.have seen alot of females produce 2-3 FC's in a litter if the pups got to trials. If there was a great stud that was bred alot the Dam to that dog would be in a huge amount of peds. The really good ones out there were definitely campained correctly. 2 cents

As far as females that are alive today........................ I'll have to say Mike Crabtree's Cinnamon Run Honey is right up there. I know that one of her past litters, all the pups have already made or are near NKC LP rabbit champions. Not too shabby, IMO. I'll take another out of her any day.

Mountain Music Dixie has been my best produceing female,she realy stamps her female pups with her traits. Nose down hard hunting chop mouth jump dog females,that can control a pack and they like her don't get raddled under pressure. Her males or at least the ones I've started have been fine hounds but they get the mouth the stud has and alot of his traits. Shes my best Rabbit hound shes proven her self time and time again,throwing pups and hunting Rabbits and Field Trialing.
