I don't understand

Post by centraliamedic »

I talked to a couple beagle clubs out west and asked about running trials and how to get started etc... I was told that my dogs would be too fast and would not be able to run with their brace dogs. I don't know how all of this works aas I am new to beagling but I thought field trials were to evaluate hunting skill etc.. why wouldn't I be able to run with them?? I can't find any club that doesn't do brace style trials.

I reckon we are talking about walking talking beagles. But anyway these guy problem donot rabbit hunt.I went to a trial one time and watch these dogs and was amaze of how slow they were and i look around and seen mostly old people with these dogs. These guys used to rabbit hunt but are not able to now.Just understand they still want to see hound work and they just don t want to see a fast dog to come in and mess up things. It nothing againts you or your dogs. This is why this sport is so amazying there is so many different speed of dogs.

I'm glad that there is something out there for everyone and I don't believe I have extremely fast dogs. I am just frustrated that there is nowhere for me to run in washington or oregon

Well i will Do What I can LOL
I Think I have responded before Sorry i couldnt help More.
I See your in Centralia Well the only Clubs Close you you Would be Salmon River or kammaloops both Are brace and basset Clubs The only Field trial Clubs around you Would be UKC Western Wa beagle Club and Marys Peak hound Club in Oregon Just the other Side of Salem Some great Folks in Both Clubs they usually Only Hold around 4 trials a year..
We also helped Columbia Willamette beagle Club get an AKC club started BUT due to lack of interest and Low Entry's they had to cancel their last trials..
I Will Give you some links to Some Folks to get ahold of that Run thier hounds Quit a bit Ken Jorgenson is one in Vancover Wa
And ONE of the BEST is JACK Kiezer in Benton Wa or by the try Cities.....Like i said before CONTACT KEN or MISSY
Shoot get Ahold Of JACK More Knowladge in that ONE man than a Dozen beaglers he has probably Forgot more than most Will know
I am just frustrated that there is nowhere for me to run in washington or oregon
There is Some Fantastic Running in Castle Rock At the Fairgrounds thats also Where they hold the brace trials and used to have thier ARHA trials at Also Ft lewis Has Some FANTASTIC Running Also Mnt Hare and Cottontail just ask at the Gate to talk to the post rec officer about a permit to Run rabbits the Foot hills around Mnt St Helens hold Some of the best runnin Around..
Oregon has NO Open Season on rabbits you can Run them year around Shoot all ya Want at most places Some of the WMas have Seasons nesting Season they call it...
get Ahold of Some of the Folks From the Clubs they Will help ya out....
This was my previous post :D

Guess Not LOL
We are originally from Oregon just transplanted to Ky a few years ago...
You are gonna be hard pressed Finding ANY beagle Clubs in the Northwest..
There is only 2 that I am aware of in Washington State..
One is a UKC club Western Washington beagle Club it is up around the Canadian border
The other is a AKC BRACE club kammaloops beagle Club I believe its called...
there is also a AKC SPO Club as part of the Columbia Willamette beagle Club...
just a few Weeks ago I responded to Another on here with Some Contact Links to Some beagleres in the Northwest.
Now as you Didnt Give your location i didnt Feel that i Could be a Whole lot of help As Washington and Oregon are both BIG states.
I Will Copy part of the Email i sent to the other Gentleman and provide you With Some very Good Contacts out that way Who Are more than Willing to mentor or help a Fellow beagler out.

Check out Any of the UKC Clubs quite a few out there they will be able to help you out also.
http://www.ukcdogs.com/Clubs.nsf/ClubVi ... Washington
just Contact Any of the Clubs and they Will give you Information or where to find it.
Go to a SHOW attend one of the local Dog shows and just Serch out the folks with Beagles..
This is what we Did and met Some Fine folks over the years.

Some fine Folks from Marys peak hound club in Corvallis Oregon a UKC club or Any a few of the breeders at Columbia Willamette beagle Club...
you can Contact the members themselves at.
http://www.bayingbriars.com/
Missy Fix on that Site or Club Pres Jerry Ray Would be more than happy to help you and know a Lot of fine breeders in the area They will also be able to steer you in the right Direction as far as Rabbit hunting in the Northwest..
These Folks
http://www.cwbeagles.com/
Are a Show breeders Club but also have some very Good members that could Show or tell you WHO in the area Would have what you are looking for.

I cannot Find a Active Link to Western Washington beagle Club But Missy Fix or Jerry ray from the Marys peak hound Club in Oregon Could get you that information..
There are Quite a Few beaglers in the Northwest it is just that they are usually quite aways away from each other or are not online..
Ken Jorgenson at CWBC Does a lot of hunting as does Tim Roosma Of Western Washington Club…
Another great Avenue that you could check out would be your local SHOW or All breed Clubs just do a search on google for local breed Clubs. Go to this link
http://www.cwbeagles.com/LINKS/Superintendent1.htm
and look at any of the superintendents and they will list the upcoming Shows in your area Go to a Show and look up any of the beagle folks…Now A LOT of em just Don’t get into hunting and can get kinda Snobish on it but MORE will help you out with some names in your local area to get ahold of…
Do Some research in the local area for All breed Clubs they will be able to give you Contact information also…
ANY of the Folks at CWBC or MARYS PEAK hound club can help set you on a path..
