Another good way of attaching them to the collar is to cut the skinny part of the tag that would attach to the cow's ear off so that the tag is somewhat square. Then, make two slits on either end of the tag and slide your collar right thru. This is less bulky and I have never seen one come off like that. Also there is no point to grind down to keep from hurting the dogs.

I picked some up on Sunday. And put them on all my dogs. The only ticks i've found have been dead, so they must be working.

I zip tied them on.

The ones I bought from Tractor Supply are Y-Tex GardStar plus insecticide ear tags they are orange and weigh 9.5 grams each the came 25 to a bag and were only 14.99 the active ingredient Permethrin I looked at Bio Spot for dogs while I was there and it was the same ingedient
THEY ARE WORKING GREAT No Ticks and no reactions from the dogs and I have them on 5 month old pups
They were a little hard to put together so I bought a tag gun and it works great, but I like the idea of making a slit and slipping collor through that would work also to bad I didnt think of it before i paid 20 bucks for this tool

I was thinking the same thing I have 2 to 3 dogs together and I fear they will chew on each other tags. What are the effects on the dog if they were to chew on it

I have been in the business for many years but have never tried these so let me understand you all. You use these tags on your running hounds? Around their necks at all times and all weather? The rains doesn't diminish their effectiveness?

Thanks,

Bob-Michigan

Why couldn't a person attach one of these to their belt while in the woods to ward off the various undesirables? Are they harmful to humans?

I purchased the purple ones from our feed store, cut slits in them and ran collar thru, I also wonder about the dogs chewing them as I have 2 males together and the younger one thinks any thing the other has on is a chewy toy. I use mosquito barrier around my kennel and ticks don't seem to cross it so I really only need them for when they are running. Just think it is a good question and would like to know if any one knows of any danger if the dog chews/eats one. Thanks Hare

nope, no reason to change them in weather. On cattle they put one in each ear and they work well. We sell ALOT of them, but never thought about them for dogs before
