help with ticks

My brothers dog has ticks all over him. How do should I get rid of them and how do I prevent my dogs from getting any. Will they go from dog to dog.

I don't know if it will work on ticks, but I give all my dogs vitamins with garlic in them and I know this will cut down on fleas. You might try that because I have never had any problems with ticks or fleas since I started with these vitamins. They are not very exspensive.
