Jump dog or track dog.

I would not feed a dog that won't jump a rabbit. I'd rather rabbit hunt with fiest and curs than a beagle that won't hunt.
Keep the best, cull the rest!

Re: Jump dog or track dog.
My dogs also have to be able to jump their own rabbits or they won't be staying in my kennel. There is nothing that I hate doing more is walking through briars or jumping brush piles.
Re: Jump dog or track dog.
About any beagle can run a rabbit.
I want a dog to find a rabbit to run.
Where I hunt there aren't many rabbits.
Three ran poorly, are a whole lot better than one ran great.
What use is a dog if I have to kick brush?

My opinion is if you can't jump it you can't run it as i don't jump rabbits for my dogs. That being said if it can't run it i can't shoot it so it better do both.

Re: Jump dog or track dog.
ever body wants both, but a true jump dog is very hard to find, and a true line dog is also, i have only ever seen 1 hound that could lock on a rabbit , he could do it in any condtion, once u see a hound change the pitch of his voice and be locked it a very speical thing, same goes for a true jump dog, i would like to have 1 of each at all times.
