A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
Had a good hunt yesterday despite some nasty conditions. We went to some private land that we usually only hit once per year and it always has an excellent population of rabbits. With the temperature at about 10 above and the wind blowing at around 30 + mph the rabbits were sitting tight and once the dogs got them up almost all of them ran straight for a hole. The dogs did manage to circle 6 of them and we harvested 4 of those. We only hunted 3 hours because it was too darn cold and the wind was bitter!!
All the dogs worked their butts off-but Dozer (the white hound) put on a clinic for the others,he won the hound of the day award! LOL!
Went myself, winds gushing around 40 mph, took my 7 year old and a 17 month old. The 17 month old worked out the rabbit line in the open, when the scent was getting blown all over the place. They worked real good...but didn't shoot anything.

I'm done hunting this season... It goes out this Friday, so this whole week the dogs will have some time off, but next week I will be getting the young pups out to run.
Thanks Done Gone, the bottom picture is Dozer, he's the sire of your pup. We didn't take the pups out on sunday but we had them out on friday with Dozer and Babs, they hunted hard and were opening up on the track some. I took some video of them that I'll be adding to our website soon. They are starting to get it and now they need some serious solo time.
Hey Bill, I didn't even notice that Sugar looks like a 3 legged dog in the picture LOL. She must have her leg picked up to itch or something but it does look pretty strange, she normally has 4 legs
