unwanted breeding/need advice

Post by haven1279 »

I lost my female while hunting about three months ago.She ran a deer and never came back.I got a call today that someone found her. After I got her home,I noticed that she is in heat.I don't know if she was breed, but odds are she was. A friend told me that the vet could give a shot to abort the unwanted pregnancy. Have any of you had this experience? Thanks.

Have you tried to decide at what point in her heat cycle she is? Is she bleeding bright red still? Have you tried her with a male just to see if she is flagging or he is interested? Perhaps you have caught her soon enough to keep her from being mated. If you ever want to breed her I'd just wait and see. A litter of mongrels is better than ruining a bitch by aborting a litter.

i gave a bitch a shot about 2 years ago and it totally screwed up her cycle and the ability to have pups,,,,,,these shots are hard on a female, im with windkist on this one wait 2 see if she stuck you have a 50 % of her not being bred,,,,,
