Need advice
Have a hound who will turn three in early March. He is running rabbits probably the best in the pack in my opinion. He has some good blood in him, also in my opinion. I would like to get back into trialing but have a hard time getting him out as much as he probably should be. I can at best give him around 6 to 8 hours per week. It seems to me that most trialers are running much more than that. My question is should I send him to someone who can get him more time like 12 hrs per week for a month or so before the trialing starts up hard in April or is he to old to send now? Do you think a months worth of running will tune him up or is that not enough. He has a litter mate that i do not own winning and placing in trials. Thanks for the advice.

It couldn't hurt. Although the amount of time your running per week now is about the same as I got out when I was field trialing. I always felt they were in shape and got my share of wins and places. Solo time, Solo time, Solo time then run him in a pack, then back to more Solo time. If I had the opportunity to send my dog to someone who will run him more, in plenty of rabbits, whom you trust, and is reasonable priced I'd go for it, like I said it can't hurt.

Go, go! Even if you don't win, you get to be around great people. I'm trying to get into trialing for this reason, just to meet people. The beagles running are music to my ears, kind of like a Harley running. I've been to one trial and it was great. The baby didn't do anything, but it was neat. From what I have read in the rules, there isn't a monetary award, so go and have a good time and support the clubs. From what I have read here, there are some pretty neat people out there.

Re: Need advice
i think it has to make a difference how in shape your dog is even if for only 1 hour im sure i would have trouble keeping up with other people that go running all the time even if its only for 1 hour just my opinion
