Running wasn't the best and it was pretty windy but we managed to kill a dozen yesterday.

I didn't go today, I went to the funeral of a longtime good friend and rabbit hunter. I did go on Thursday, the dogs jumped and ran 11. We got 10, the last was a very good chase with all 8 dogs carrying the mail! Then all of sudden it was over. They all shut down and came back as a pack. Brer Rabbit found his hole and made it home. We ended the day on that note. Not to mention that it started pouring down with much needed rain. While enroute to the funeral I saw tons of rabbit hunters all over the place. So let's hear it VA Rabbit Hunters, who did what.

Been doing real well. Running or hunting most every day now. Hunted 3,000 acres of private property in Culpepper Sat. and the dogs stroked almost ALL day w/ an hr. break for lunch/BSin'! :) Ran yesterday for 3 hrs. only 2 rabbits, but only 10 min. of down time between that. Not going today, but we're hunting Front Royal tomorrow so we'll see, weather has been very conducive to phenemonal running lately!

Ran on Saturday And had a ball dogs jumped right out the pens, had half the pack go off on a rabbit and the others in the opposite direction on another rabbit.Had 9 jump missed 2 got 2. Best part was we didn't get 150 yards from the truck all day.

Been running a little in the bitter cold. Ground has been froze so I could get into a few places way off the beaten path. Plenty of rabbits except the wind had them sitting REAL tight. When they sit that tight it is hard on young hounds but will make or break them!!! Got a new female... she is a little under two and I have been running the stuff out of her, a couple young hounds and always take one of the tried and true to tattle tale or work the hard lines.

All and all it has been game on in our end of the state. Just looking forward to 40 degree's and better scenting!!

Last Saturday of the year guys...good luck :)

I had good run with a Northway female and 11 month old pup in the snow yesterday....just shy of an hour before I pulled them off. It was getting dark and it was COLD :baby:

Luke,

Sounds like you had a good season and you finished strong! Monday 3 buddies and myself hunted 10 hounds in a tough, thick with briars, rabbit infested cutover. The dogs jumped and ran 14 and we killed 10. On Wednesday we hunted the same place but different location. This time with only 3 hunters we ran 15 and killed 10. Yesterday was a different story. We hunted in NC. Scenting was tough but the dogs ran good enough for us to kill 5 out of 8 ran. Afterwards the club we were visiting had roasted a pig. We didn't get a lot of rabbits but we had plenty of bbq pig. Now I can rest for a couple of weeks before it's time to work some pups. I'm glad it's over, back to normal living.
