A Rabbit Doesn't Have a Chance

Larry I started the salt program 2 years ago and I have trippled the rabbit population in 3 different places that I hunt. It does work.Ask your feed store if they add salt in commercial rabbit feed.and why?
Been hunting for 52 years rest of the time I wasted.

Worth a try. We could buy a lot of salt for what we are spending on rabbits. I guess it needs to be something like cows lick, the mineral salt?

The only way the stablize the predator/prey relationship is cover. You say you have plenty of cover, is it thick enough to allow rabbits to run through it but not allow foxes to pursue? If not you DON"T have good cover. Someone said multifloria rose. If you got it, you got rabbits year after year. I'm talking jumping 20+ rabbits in a 3 hour hunt, every year, and you can come back and still jump plenty. My only problem with cover is that the honeysuckle bush is choking out the multifloria rose. The honeysuckle bush looks thick but isn't. If you have good cover you've got rabbits, it's that simple.

I agree with the comment of over hunting,we had a small farm that we could hunt anytime we wanted to,they were so many rabbits that it was'nt uncommon for a 4 dog pack to be split 4 ways.On most years we would kill 25 to 30 rabbbits a year and the next year they seemed to be more than the year before, but 4 years ago a new group of hunters got permission to hunt the farm and on the first year they killed over 100 rabbits and the next year they killed 40 and the next year 12 and we went and tryed our luck the other day and had 3 races and all were straight to ground. They have not only taken alot of the breeders out of the picture but they also run their dogs there in the spring and we were told that their dogs catch @ least 1 a night. :D
