Hare Hunt 2008 (Drummond Pics)

Post by Sandy Valley »

Had a good trip yet again up on the island. The weather was awesome with a good amount of snow at first then as the temp rose the snow melted. We were into hare almost non-stop. We managed killing 10 but more importantly had some really good hare runs. Enjoyed another good run with SR PATCH on our last morning, and my compliments to his two hounds he dropped with us. They sure are pretty darn good hounds. We lost Gunner on our first day, and while looking after dark for him heard the coyotes starting to howl in our area(Nervousness ensued). The next morning he came out of the bushes shortly after we parked to hunt. All in all a very good trip for our first time up this late in the season, we will do it again for sure.

So sorry to hear about Monty, wished he would have called me.
He's one of the strongest men I know, his will and spirit shined all the while we were together.
I am sorry we took him and got him infected with the hareitis disease, there is no cure you know, frequent trips back harehunting are the only relief one can hope for...
I think his next plan was to take YOU up and let you experience this little piece of heaven that God put just offshore to make it a more special place.

That's a funny thing about all these friends I make through hounds as of late, they all carry these little cell phones and are constantly calling or being called by their sweeties &honey's wanting to know, "watcha do'in"... ...isn't love grand!!!..... why if they put in a tower for better reception up thar, we won't never get no hunt'n done...
JoDEE, you take good care of Monty and DON"T give them hounds to many extra goodies, they don't need that babyfat no matter if'n they do beg.
Tell Monty to hold onto that hare's foot he got and show that pup what he's gona be after when he grows up... ;)
Best wishes,talk soon.

I wish he would have called me or the boys,I went to work and it hit him,he laid at home all day ,throwing up,couldnt pee,etc and never said a word until i got home, you would think he would learn,he doesnt like to bother us,but like i say why not,i bother him when hes busy or hunting lol.He hates the cell phones but i have him carry it for his own good, never know with him, meningitis, kidney stones, etc, although he has yet to call he waits for me to get home :bash:
We are going up to the ISLAND next November or December on my time off work for the Holidays, says hes not taking the young guns they made him mad ,i told him there was a reason they didnt hunt but i know how you guys are about the hounds lol,Jody is still not acting the same so he is only running her in enclosures from now on,CoCo came in heat a the day after you guys got back,My baby [Blue] looked half starved so i been getting in trouble for giving him a little extra, and thats not fair to the rest so they all get a little more lol,i tell him just run them more :D .
And for that hares foot, its all spread out with tooth pics, but nothing surprises me anymore  ;)

JoDEE, your makin' my sides hurt...

Monty needed to see the doctor and if I'd thought for one minute he wasn't going to tell you, I sure would have... :bash: ... you need to put a knot in his tail for that... :angryfire:

I didn't look in Jody's ears but she seems lost most of the time. The heat cycle could have explained coco's acting up. As for Blue, he'd be a beautiful hound if you'd let us go for two weeks next time... ;)

I hate to spoil a surprise but, Montys gona make a key chain outa that hares foot and give it to you for your birthday, so you make a fuss over it and don't hurt his feeling, OK...

Tell Monty to keep that compass in his vest and the flashlight in his pocket... :D

I usually know when hes not feeling well, but i wasnt around him for a few days and when i picked him up he took me straight up to see my grandmother,he will avoid us,or if anyones around hes a real bear thats a sign hes not good :(
I need no rabbit foot for a keychain nor luck lol,as for the compass the needle fell off and for the flashlight he said if it wasnt for you hed been in the dark, hed forget his head if it wasnt attached
Hes been checking Jodys ears,we clean all their ears weekly,he said shes acted up a few times this year,he spoke to the vet they said they thought she might have a tumor in her brain or something else but i cant remember what he said, but he hasnt had a chance to take her over,Blue i have to say does look nice but i cant deny them the snacks when i see their sad little faces :D ,i did work on adding the weight to Abby while he was gone lol,ill be in trouble when Monte is back up to parr
