I can't speak for Joey, but as for myself i've killed a whole whopping 4 rabbits this year, and last year i shot more video then i did rabbits. my last years harvest was maybe 15. I cant see anywhere in my posts that would suggest i've slaughtered rabbits. I agree again that there are many posts on these boards where people post pics of tail gates full of rabbits but i assure you it's not me or anyone that hunts with me.

I don't think just because I'm having a hard time finding rabbits should automatically lump me in with people that over harvest.

Well the way I see it is if you don't kill them on public land someone else sure as hel* will.

Besides noone can kill all the rabbits on CA land. It is impossible. A person can't cover every inch of the CA land. Plus when a hunter walks thru an area did he find all the rabbits in that area NOOOOO he did not. Rabbits move around one day you will jump 10 rabbits in a certain spot you go back the next day and you may be lucky to find 2 in that same spot. I go rabbit hunting every single weekend from the beginning of the season to the end. I know how many we jump and how many we kill. And believe me if we killed every single rabbit jumped this season we'd have a truck bed full. Two rabbits holed the other one the dogs lost this rabbit disappeared and that rabbit plain tricked the dogs and these are laying on my tailgate. That pretty much sums up our usual rabbit hunt.

Well gee thanks for letting me know how you feel about how many rabbits I kill.

I will tell you again if you misread. That was the first time that I've been to these CA's. So therefore I didn't shoot them all now did I.

I own beagles I train them hard and run them hard everyweekend year round. I have a truck a dog box and nice browning shot gun. I don't field trial. So there is only one thing for me to do and that's rabbit hunt. So I guess I should go out of my way to train and run dogs and buy all this stuff just to watch a couple rabbits get terrorized by a pack of dogs.

Yeah right

.....It's called rabbit hunting not Hey lets just watch them run.......That's what the off season is for IMO.

Southeast Mo isn't that far. Maybe I should load up the dogs and see if I can't shoot a few down that way.

I'm not ruffled Todd, I appreciate your input and again i agree with you 100%, I do believe that on the land that i hunt (CA's) the rabbits are harvested too much by many hunters and i wish there were something i could do about it.

I do think it's more then that though because of all the rabbit sign i see. theres rabbits there, my mutts just can't seem to get em up.

I'm sure i probably took your post out of context, and i apologize for that, I've seen many replies to posts like this and everyone always jumps to over killing, and more often then not they're probably right but it's not always the case. sometimes the rabbits are just smarter then the hunter and thats most the time in my case i'm sure lol

As far as Busch on opening day, it's always like that and always will be...their season dont start till jan 1st so anyone and everyone that hunts public ground is usually there the first couple weekends.

I have some property here in michigan that gets absolutly pounded by hunters.right about now we are having trouble finding rabbits.they are there because you can see the sign.i believe they get nocturnal ,just like deer. come late feb. early march it will be nonstop running in this area.it happens every year. i agree with you Joey I put alot of time in my hounds (year round) I`m gonna shoot some rabbits. It`s fun and they are good eating.hunting is the main reason I have my dogs.
