A special dog

Post by cbf5529 »

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years.
Any seperation from you will be very painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up
as punishment. You have your work, your friends,
your entertainment, I only have you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words,
I understand your voice when it's speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I'll never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that
could easily crush your bones in your hand, but I choose
not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative,
ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps
I'm not getting the right food, I've been out in the sun too long,
or my heart may be getting old and weak.
9. Take care of me when I get old. You, too, will get old.
10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, "I can't bear
to watch it" or "Let it happen in my absence". Everything is
easier for me if you are there. Remember, I love you.

 I have had beagles since 2000....and I have watched some grow old that we got when they were 3 - 5 years old so there lives ended with myself by there side,,,One beagle Leroy had health problems(cancer of the bone),,well we kept him doped up from pills the vet gave us,,,but 1 day the pills did'nt help the pain so I knew what we had to do,,,the vet doped him up and gave us time with Leroy out of pain,,,and when it was time the vet came back him and I hung on to Leroy... and through all the pain and stress he wagged that little tail at me as if to say.. mom you did all you can but I love you.... I love my beagles more than my life itself,,,I would'nt change anything.. being with them when they where born is as special as when we they leave this world...Shannon..... Now ...go hug your animals!

I THINK QUITE A FEW PEOPLE COULD LEARN A LOT FROM #9. YOU SEE THESE ADS WHERE SOMEONE IS GIVING AWAY AN OLD BEAGLE, THEY DONE GOT ALL THE GOODIE OUT OF IT & DON'T WANT TO FOOL WITH IT ANY MORE. IF IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME TO FEED WHEN IT'S YOUNG THEN IT CAN RUN LOOSE AROUND HERE WHEN IT GETS OLD & SLOW. THANKS FOR LETTING ME VENT.

After a bout with the Kleenex box when I read this.... I've lost 3 beloved dogs, all of which I had the opportunity to hold and say goodbye to before they closed their eyes. My husband and I both cried and mourned for weeks after each one. We were always there when they were hurt or sick, how could anyone not be? after all they were part of our family. I have an "old wize one" now that we will lose before too much longer, but on the flip side I have a beautiful baby Beagle girl growing and romping her way into our hearts every day. If humans loved as much, forgave as often and were as loyal as our animals the world would be a whole lot better place.

Thanks for sharing that cbf5529, I passed it on to a bunch of my friends!
