our home club crittenden or gcabc has decided to go to progressive hunts
this will happen next year we have a little pack hunt this weekend this will be the last time i help we have 30 members in our club the same three do everthing paper work, cook, clean up.if we leave they will not have a master of hounds,or anything that you have to have to start a club they seem to think there is more progressive style dogs than little pack i don't know who does have the most since i'm in little pack style dogs when this happens i' sure the club will go under, since they don't have a clue what is going on.know one is this club puts out any effort at all to help when we do have a hunt.there is also something else i do not approve of they hold the meetings in a bar, don't get me wrong i like a cold beer every know and then, but all they do is sit and drink beer and don't pay attention to what we are talking about.out of 30 people i think there is 5 of us who run dogs.i will not change my style of dogs just to stay in this club

You do what you feel is right for you. If the story is as you say it is, mention that you won't be assisting in the club any longer and see if the few that do help out feel the same way as you. Then re-start the LP club and see who shows up...

Good luck,
Emery

Why don't you just hold both style trials?

Yes, I would have to say your wrong. Not only you but everyone else in the club! It sounds like your club is alot like every other club. There are just a few that do the work and your club has people that like different types of hunts. The way I look at it is if a club cant hold the types of hunts that the membership wants then the club aint worth having! I would say if the membership is split between two different types of trials then they should try to have both. If they cant do that then they should fold and everyone go thier own way. Just my opinion!

this might sound childish but if we hold both type of trials why should i help them enjoy there style of dogs when i can't enjoy running my style of dogs because i have to make sure all the paper work is done and clean up.i really think to best thing to do is to let them have progressive hunts and start a new little pack club and to be honest about i know nothing about a progressive style dog.i'll just stick to my SWINGING,CUTTING,SLICING DOGS

Hopefully you guys can put your differences aside. and try to work together My club "Ben's Knob beagle Club" in NC hold both PP and LP hunts. As a matter of fact I am a judge for both, and I don't even own a dog that is close enough in the check area to run Progressive Pack. Facilitating both formats is the reason that our club membership is one of the larger ones in ARHA. We have a lot of guys that run LP that show up at the PP hunts and judge. I personally hate judging PP but I still help out whenever I can. Our club hosted the PP NC state hunt two weeks ago and we will be hosting the LP state hunt this weekend.

Your right, it does sound childish! Just because you do the paper work dont mean you cant run a dog in a trial. There is no reason why a decision couldnt be made that if the membership wanted to hold PP hunts as well as LP that someone that runs PP be in charge of the paperwork or whatever else needs to be done at the PP trials or better yet HELP EACH OTHER AT BOTH!!!!! If they dont want to help so they can have PP hunts then they dont want them that bad.

Who knows......you might end up liking PP better than LP. I dont mind LP but I just cant teach my dogs to count!

Little Pack has more followers, but PP is not small by any means. Sounds like you guys need some new blood in your club, Where are you located?

Big Dog, is your first name "James"?
By the way, I was at the NC State PP Hunt and enjoyed it very much. You guys have some very nice facilities and the folks there treated us like they had known us all our lives.
GREAT PLACE, GREAT HUNT! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

beagledogetw, I'm the Secretary/Treasurer for our club also and yes I do most of the paperwork. But I volunteered for the job knowing the work load and I will volunteer for another year of it.
I will say, however, that if our members came to meetings drunk or drinking, I wouldn't associate myself with the club. I can't understand how you can get anything done if you hold your meeting at a bar!! Like you, I enjoy a cold beer or two, but there is a time and place for that.
If you are unhappy with the situation, do as has already been advised, leave the club and start our own LP club.

To guest - no my name is Kim, You probably met James Davis at the PP hunt. He is a great guy. We have a bunch of good guys in our club. I couldn't make it to the PP state hunt, because my 20 year high school class reunion was the same day. I had to go and see who had gotten fat and bald.(LOL)

like i have a lot of problems don't it.i see that you you are from nc.i'd say that would be a long drive.we need more younger people in our club out of the 30 members 3 are under the age of 60.i'm not saying that is old,but in order to change things you have to have help.i don't really care if they do change to pp,there is other clubs around that we enjoy going to,we have meet many good people in the arha and many of them have become are best friends.
