You feeling like a big man, now that you have bad mouthed Daves dog. Man you lack class!!!!NoBull wrote:I am simply asking this what has triple threat done to prove in anyway he is even close to any of the other dogs that anyone has mentioned. He is on top of the black gold challenge series thats all I can find if thats the case and that is all a dog has to do I guess I look for a little more from what I breed my females to. Furthermore I wasn't trying to insult the dog or his owners as I know Dave Mcvay and have for years and even knew his father but hey maybe you have your chance to prove me wrong this weekend lets see what he does at the world hunt................ohhh wait I forgot he didn't make it in I guess that double elimination held at the grounds he runs at everyday was a fluke I have seen triple threat run and was not impressed I didn't want to be rude on here but if you want to push the issue it is simply this I was not impressed by him and have seen him on several occasions if your going to talk about UKC males why not mention the ones that have produced dogs that are winning for example Mystery Man also on the challenge series has won several larger hunts and has placed highly in the Nationals several times or how about Mark V's King who is the only male UKC world champion who has produced tons of dogs that are grands and have won major hunts or even White River Tuff e Nuff who has won tons of things is the #1 male on the producing list who has dogs out of him that are jumping up the list quickly.
I am done with this discussion I know UKC has great dogs and that was not my argument at all my point here was very simple Sundown Triple Threat is not in the same league as the other dogs everyone else has listed.

i laymens terms, yes, but i myself look at the dogs that only need 5 or 10 points to be a champion too, just cause one belongs to a ukc man in iowa, where there are no lp clubs, and she has been in two ukc hunts and won both, and the other male has his first,a 2nd in the world hunt, and a third,in 4 hunts entered impressive, plus, notice the odds,7 mature pups out there, only 4 are being pushed in trials,of those 4,one is a lp r ch,the other two need 5 or 10 points to be lp r ch,and one has two ukc wins in 2 hunts, and the other one is about 18 months,if kevin wanted to go out there every weekend and push the ones he has now, trust me,they will finish quick, but he hits the big hunts in lp,and as of late other than the benefit hunt,he only hits a couple club hunts just to qualify and only the world.dmbarnes wrote:So the answer is =Reggie has produced one LP rabbit Champion. So how can anybody rate him in their top 5 stud dogs this early in his breeding career![]()
Tom MN I really liked your response, I think the breed would be better served if more people would quit chasing after the latest IFC to breed any ole bitch too!
like i have said before, lets take a count in 2,3,or 4 years from now,i bet ya then there will be some beleivers, but then reggie will be 9 or 10,so why not get some now?
and no,reggie does not run offgame,if he may have in the past i don't know, but as of now,the dog is broke.

Any dog that accomplishes what Reggie has is a fine prospect to breed in my opinion. I have never heard anything bad about Reggie and I would love to see him run. I trust what the guys on this board have reported about him. I know of a few guys who have Reggie pups and they have reported favorable commnets about their hunt and nose and these are young dogs. What more could one want.
This thread was started for guys looking to find a good stud dog to have a current reference for breeding prospects, not to slam anyones dogs or any of that stuff. I like these type threads to get a feel for what the community at large views as their choices for studs that are worthy. Nothing more and nothing less.

Just my opinion
Hey No bull I have to TOTALLY DISAGREE with what you said. My point is this, a well bred dog with COMFORMATION is built to run all day and has an easier time doing it. I have judged hounds for years both in the field and on the bench and I know I have seen some sorry ass looking dogs that can hammer a rabbit BUT I also am smart enuff to know that good comformation makes it easier for a hound to run all day and pass those genes and that ability on to his offspring. bowed legs cause joint fatigue, short ears don't allow for great scenting under certain conditions, bad feet make for hip problems and so on and so on. I never owned the best dogs in the world but I was striving to improve the breed ...from my little corner of the world. and they ARE the best that i have. I could care less of their registry i wanted dogs that could JUMP and RUN and drive a rabbit to the gun...in am manner to overtake the game.
Run your dogs....not your mouth!!!
Why is it when someone posts a question, it always ends up in a battle? We all have our pick of dogs, what trials we want to run and probably alot of the same friends in the trials that we all run. I have run in almost every format, have done well in some and not so well in others. I have learned what type of dog it takes to run in each, and until I have that dog I feel will do well in that format, why screw up someone else's chance of placing. It would be ironic if we could post our veiws on a question, without having to argue.

The difficulty is not comming up with new ideas but to undo the old ones.

Hehehehe Yes actually short ears do effect how a dog can run in certain conditions the length and placement of the ears is supposed to help a hound gather scent easier I don't know is this is 100% true or not but I have read it many times I guess a good example on this would be a basit hound or a blood hound super long ears supposed to be able to track anything anywhere Don't know I run them ugly as hell crooked legs no tail one eye I don't care to me they are all pretty when they are running in the front. I have a few with good looks and a few ugly ones they're all the best I got and thats all that matters to me.
This brings up another interesting thought when humans lose a sense the other ones get stronger so would a deaf beagle be one hell of a track machine or is it not the same

stud dogs
i would have to say andersons t shadow, would be among the upper level of studs, some these dogs offspring are really not old enough to judge what kinda sires they are going to be.
my old jyp has short ears she has been in 3 hunts n got a 1st n2 seconds i think anyways she only needs 25 pts to be a ukc champion the times she was put in the hunts it was like 85 to 95 degrees hottttttt n dryyyyyy she could smell when others had quit i put her on the bench once the judge commented on her ears being set to high on her head it didnt hurt her nose seems like, (she beat his dog that day)

JUST AS JOHN SEES IT

You have to compare the size of things by the size of things near them. Ever see a picture of something with a coin near it to show the true size of it? I know, I know "Whatcha ramblin' about, Ramey"?? Look at Mike Crabtree. His ears are really enoromous, but because his head is so swollen from all these wins lately, his ears actually look normal! (I had to put this in here, couldn't resist, lighten up!) Actually I have read the same thing about ears, but how does that account for Norwegian Elkhounds being able to smell Elk from ever how many miles they can smell them? And bird dogs smelling little things like quail, and drug dogs of every breed under the sun smelling cocaine and mj, pills, etc? I like the looks of a hound with low-hanging, droopy, houndy ears, but given the choice, I want one that can smell and run rabbits to suit my liking, not any of yours.
