WARNING EVERYONE READ> THE BIG B
Not to cause alarm. But I was informed by a realiable source that there have been several recent outbreaks of Canine Brucelosis in the USA. I was informed about several kennels in the South so I Googled "Canine Brucelosis Outbreaks" and got several results. Trialing season is upon us and I just thought Id pass this along so everyone will be cautious when buying or breeding your hounds. Hopefully this is just a rumor but you can never be too careful.

From Field to Show and Show to Field the way it should be
I KNOW OF A FELLOW WHO HAS THE CLEANEST KENNELS ON CONCRETE YOU'LL SEE.HE HAD BEGAN TO RUN WITH HIS COUSIN WHO BUYS SELLS TRADES DOGS.THE FELLA'S BITCH COMES IN TO HEAT.HE GETS A BRUCCELLOSIS TEST PRIOR TO BREEDING HER SHE TEST POSITIVE.COME TO FIND OUT HIS WHOLE KENNEL HAD IT AND COUSINS.IT CAN BE TRANSMITTED TO HUMANS.NO SEX WAS INVOLVED JUST DOGS LICKING EACH OTHER,EATTING CRAP POSSIBILY,MAYBE H20 BOWL-EXCHANGE OF BODY SECRETIONS.IT'S HIGHILY CONTAGIOUS.AKC SHOULD REQUIRE A TEST DONE ON ROUTINE BASIS TO STOP IT'S SPREAD.SOME STATES REQUIRE INFECTED ANIMALS TO BE PUT DOWN.***DON'T DUMP INFECTED ANIMALS OFF BESIDE THE ROAD OR ANIMAL SHELTER AS YOU COULD CREATE AN EPIDEMIC INFECTING PETS TO BE ADOPTED OR ANIMALS ROAMING THE NEIGHBORHOOD.SERIOUS-SERIOUS-SERIOUS!!! :(

NC i am assuming they had dogs tested more than once. but that is good info. There are chances of a false positive with the instant tests vets conduct.

Read the articles!!!!!!
YES an INSTANT in Office test can yield a False Positive Only Sure way is Lab test. The only Known Cure is euthanization!!!!!
I Do remember an Article i read one time that AKC Required all dogs that were entered in trials to have a Current B test done before they could be entered!!!!!

THE ONLY TIME DOGS GET CHECKED IS WHEN A BITCH IS BRED,THIS NEEDS TO BE CHANGED TO ANY DOG ENTERED IN A TRIAL MUST HAVE A NEGATIVE TEST NOT OLDER THAN 6 MONTHS.
Some uppity woman found out about my beagles and wanted to breed some kind of yapper to one of them to produce what she called screw tailed beagles. I said OK, no charge, but since your female has been bred a lot, and you got no pups on the last 2 breedings, you will have to take her to my vet for a brucellosis test. She said what is brucellosis? I said K 9 VD. She got all insulted and said I'll have you know MY DOG does not have VD!!!
Just goes to show, like Honey Pot sez, you meet some real nut cases messin' with dogs and their owners. Makes is kinda like a license to steal for the vets, groomers, and dog snake oil/doodad peddlers who prey on them.
Oh yeah, she gets $350 per for the screw tail pups and has a waiting list, so maybe I am the nut case not her.

According to some reading on the internet its a vertabral column defect. So, we have some Idiot who decides to double up on it so she can make some new "RARE" beagle with a screw tail who could also produce puppies with spina bifida...OH BOY! Hopefully she isn't reproducing herself...ugh!
