When I read about the problem, I checked to see where they're manufactured and found "made in China" printed on the back of the package. Suspicions confirmed. I'm no expert, just an interested observer of the results of Chinese quality management, but I personally know of no product coming from China these days which doesn't deserve cautious evaluation before purchase.
Having said that.... on the positive side, some beaglers have had nothing but good things to say about the SD 3200. And I own two el cheapo anti-bark collars I bought at WalMart - made in China - which have worked fine.
My bottom line.... It's nothing you've done wrong... I've become gun-shy of Chinese products and would keep looking for an American-made Tri Tronics.
If I am not mistaken, those el cheapo bark collars you bought from Walmart are (PetSafe/Guardian) aka SportDog collars......PetSafe and SportDog are one in the same.

PetSafe, PetSafe Pro, Invisible Fence, SportDOG, Innotek, Guardian, Staywell and FenceMaster brands are all from the same company.

I like my Classic 70 G2 collars from Tri, but the Tri no bark collars have not done well for me. I bought 3, and 2 of them eat a battery in a week or so. The other one does fine. My 2 Dogtra no barks rechargeable are still doing the job after years of use. I also own Dogtra field collars and they work fine and I have never had a problem with them. I have owned Sportdog bark collars and they were just junk and a waste of money.

I think Dogtra is gaining ground, even some of the diehard Tri guys are seeing problems.

Hey Jude
I have been hoodood before. I was cursed with a one testicled three year old dog that died of old age the next year. He could jump a rabbit though. When he was not barking. I was under the spell of youth and trusting a dog trader.
I really like my tritronics trashbreaker. I have had good service from tritronics over the last few years. We tested the range here in NC at better than 1.5 miles.
Where's the earth shattering kaboom ?

Yep... the bark collars are Guardians. Both work fine and battery life has been good. I took a chance on a $37 item and won. Still wouldn't gamble on a $300+ SD product. Thanks for the good info on all the brand names.
