Yeah, it was Nevada, Missouri.

It was Brad Harris, the guy that used to be with Lohman. Or maybe he still is, I dont know. I dont remember the name of the show either but like someone else said, it was good to see rabbit hunting with dogs on a hunting show.

speed

Post by randy blankenship »

i know that speed is a matter of opinion to alot of people so what speed would you rate the dogs on the show and how would you rate the first set of dogs to the second set?just wondering what everyone else thinks!!

I think the first set was dead balls med speed,I didnt think there was enough footage of the second set to tell.
from what I seen of the first pack I really liked their style.

I saw it. I think the second group were just the younger offspring of the first group. I heard an old raspy bawl of a older hound in with the younger group I think was there to keep them right.
It was not my type but, God bless all rabbit hunters and the joy they get from hunting their little hounds... ;)
As to speed, these were just right to take a young boy or one just starting out, to kill some farm rabbits. The rabbits loped & sit along their circuit with out any worry they were in danger... ;)
On a 1-10 scale I give them a 3 as I never saw them break into a gallop, it was mostly a trot with some skipping... good to see any rabbit hunting on TV tho...;)

rabbit hunting

Post by Big Dog »

I spoke with Bub and Kelly from "outdoor moments" about rabbit hunting on TV, the reason they don't do it much is that it is extremely hard to get good footage. We talked about them possibly coming out to Iowa and filming a hunt, but we couldn't work out the dates. TV is all about seeing what is happening, and unless you are somewhere like Iowa, Indiana, Missouri or parts of Ohio it is extremely hard to get much of the chase and shot on tape.

heres an idea, everyone comin to lets say,the grand nationals, bring a video camera,we could get all the footage at the clubhouse,in the feild, ect. edit it,put together the best stuff, send a copy to them, then maybe if they see how big this sport is,and the possibility of ratings, thay would jump on it,i watched a few shows on bird hunting field trials, they only had twenty or thirty dogs there, amagin shoewnin them 300,400,or 600+ plus dogs like at the world, that would open their eyes.
