Doghouse bedding
I'm looking for something to use as bedding in my doghouses during the hot summer months. I want something that will stay fairly clean. I used carpet before, but it gets nasty quick and the dogs tear it up. I use straw in the winter, but it gets all over the kennels in the summer since I take the doors off the houses. I'm thinking of something along the lines of foam, but stiff enough that they can't shred it. Any ideas?

Teflon or some really hard plastic. I don't think foam will cut it... I have used cedar chips. Keeps the fleas away and makes the dogs smell good too.
It can get messy tho and you need to make sure it stays dry or replace it often....

I use cedar chips, but do not use them with small pups (under 5 months).
I have seen cedar chip cause problems with pups (bowel blockage, prolapse of colon, etc.).
I would only use shredded paper for pups and only in the winter at that.
Cedar chips are supposed to repel fleas and mights. I don't know how effective it is, but seems to work well for me. I do know that straw for bedding in the summer will cause a flea/mite infestation.
