Man thats terrible news. Sorry Bobby and Allen for the loss of such a great hound. I am grateful to you both as "chet" will have a strong influence in my kennel for as long as I own beagles. I want you to know that he has left his mark in the beagling world and in my opinion has created a better beagle.

Bobby and Allen, Sorry to have heard about your loss. I just got a pup and Chester was the sire of the pup's mother. That was a major reason in my decision to get the pup! I've only met Bobby one time. I hauled a dog for him and met him at his store to drop it off. After having sat and talked hounds with him, and being treated like a long lost friend, I knew he was a class act! He sure made me feel welcome, and I'd run dogs with him any day! Bill Ennis.

Bobby and Alan,

Sure hate to hear it. I heard it yesterday when I was meeting a guy from Missouri to pick up a dog. Guess what he had in his box, a grandpup to Chester. His influence will be around along time.

This has been the tuff pill to swallow. Will,Bobby and Big Al we sure enuff drank many Brew listening too ol chester. I hate it with all my heart, you just never know. He has thrown enuff dogs over the years to have more than enuff hall of fame points. I will run his blood as long as i got hounds.
I had him at my house dont know why i took the pic but it was father , son ,granddaughter and great grand daughter all lined up. I breed the best bitch to take in air at my house and got a another daughter out of him .
I miss him already thank god i bred too him he was one hell of a running hound, 99% of people never seen him go. Rufus started chester and alan and bobby finished him.Hard to say how many 100s of rabbits were killed in front of him. I still gotta laugh thinking when chester was green started
jackson would school him on occasion, 2 years later it changed towards chester. A changing of the guard i thought. Great ones come and go but i will do my best to carry it on for ya chester. Hope someday i get to pet ya again my friend.

Sorry to hear it. That will make the ones we imported to North Carolina a little more special to us. Freebird, Comanche, and Itchy are sons and daughters and Lucy is a grand daughter. They are all tough as nails and will be in our future breedings. If everything works out Chester blood will flow here for quite a while.

I have to say, I do believe you'll get to pet old Chester again, why if there weren't hounds in Heaven, it just wouldn't be Heaven now would it? :)

You know Bobby and Allen really lost a special hound. I am sure they appreciate the responses and phone calls. Yes Jimmy those running days and those sitting at Als table or down in his barn conducting hypothetical breedings sure have paid off. I feel fortunate to have run and hunted with ole Chet as much as I did. The ole dog sure has made my kennel better without a doubt. I have been also lucky enough to have witnessed some fine hounds bred out of him both famous and unknown to the general beagling world. As sad as his passing has been the future looks bright with the offspring that are left. I sure am going to miss the comfort of when in doubt breed to Chester. LOL.

Thanks Rufus for breeding this fine hound.

Also Jimbo hope none of us pet him again for a very very long time.

It truly amazes me tje response we have had.Thank you all so much we have lost one of our best friends. I apologize for not returning all the calls, my cell phone is on the blink and I hope. toget a new one any day now. Rufus we thank you for giving us the opportunity to own him. I never regretted it in any way. I was really hurting bad. In the last few days I have re-ran many races with Chester in my mind. Races he ran with dogs like Jimmie's Jackson, Wayne Waits' Amy, Earl's Big Ben dog, Rufus's Voo Doo. All of them were superstsrs in their own right. What I'm trying to say is as long as a dog lives in soneones mind I don't think they are truly gone. There a lot of guys a lot younger than me that will remember him running years from now. I can't imagine any person that has never known the unconditional love of a dog. They have been one of the greatest parts of my life. Again thanks so much to all of you.
