I usually have to drive about 45 min but this year had to go about 1hr 20 min to get to any decent running grounds. Have not been many rabbits in the southern part of NY this past year.

I lost my running grounds this year. I primarily run on a WMA and the State of Georgia is not continuing the lease for this property. It was 10,000 acres of prime rabbit habitat. They are in the process of leasing the land out in 1,000 acre tracts to private hunt clubs. The land is going for $14.00 per acre. That is $14,000 for a 1,000 acre tract. Where is our money going that sportsmen spend in the State of Georgia?
My other running ground was the land of the company that I work for. Since the Georgia house bill did not pass that allows you to have a firearm in your vehicle on company property, my company has banned firearms from its' premises. In the State of Georgia if a company wants to ban firarms from their property, you do not even have the right to have one in your vehicle on that company property.
I had to sell my pack of hounds, as this is the first time in 35 years I do not have a place to run my beagles.
Hope this does not happen to anyone else.
Thanks for letting me vent.

For many years, I'd drive an hour to run hare, and two, three times a week, I'd sleep in my car while the hounds ran, then get up about 5 am, catch them and go to work. The other days, I'd run cottontail close to home. Then I bought property and a house 50 miles from my workplace, and ran my hounds in my backyard everyday. Drawback was the hour and a bit it took to get to work everyday. I prefer running at home and driving some distance to work, but each to his own! Now that I'm retired, I've got it made.
