Submarine Sailer US Navy 1962-1969. I made about a half dozen patrols on the USS Lafayette SSBN 616 as a Missile Tech for the Polaris Missile system. We cruised around under the sea for two months on each patrol as a deterrent to Soviet attacks on the USA during the Cold War.

Us Army Vet corps. 1975-1978. Yes, the US Army still has a VET Corps that goes back to the civil war days. Of course my time was well after the end of the Civil War and the VET Corps personnel worked in animal clinics on posts and as Food Inspectors. This is where I learned Food Inspection and have practiced what I learned for nearly 28 years with the USDA. It was nice to learn something other than being a soldier but of course that came first and foremost while in active duty. I will say that my Military experiance made a totally different person out of me and it made me realize just how great this ole US of A is and the little things that we take for granted. I salute ALL who serve and have served for fighting to give me those FREEDOMs I so enjoy.
