The diamond dog food recall was NEWS and was on every single TV station In Dec 2005 when their food was tainted with Afloxin. It wasn't hidden but, brought right out in the open. The only reason this new recall has taken on a life of its own is because it affected so many brands of dog food and potentially now could be in foods that WE eat. below are some stories about diamond. All major networks covered this.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10771943/

http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/12/22/dog.deaths/

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/12/ ... 2326.shtml

This isn't about WHAT dogs are dying or if one dog is better than another its just a fact that dogs and cats are dying. Our children could be affected as well which does make it very scary and very newsworthy.

Tony, your opinions are yours and thats fine. Its the word you used that was offensive to me. I could care less if you respect me or not but, some words are just plain offensive no matter what context you use them in.

And you can bet that PG will buy a place of their own to produce their own wet foods.. I can just see a Euk exec now telling everybody,,, I TOLD YOU ALL (Other Euk Execs) WE HAD BEST BUY OUR OWN FACTORY so we don't get bit on the BUTT over a mess like this!!!!!!!!!! Oh well, Euks the best and we're having great results with the new Premium Performance Sporting formular.. Our bunch loves the stuff and it took a good second off their lap times around the house here while playing!!!!

Not sure I agree. Euk and Iams canned/pouch foods were involved in the recall, and I seem to remember being specifically told by Euk that they manufacturered their own canned formulas. I used to swear by Euk, but if you look at the recent formula changes they made, they omitted better vitamins for cheaper ones (calcium carbonate in lieu of di calcium phosphate), lowered the Omega 3:6 ratio of fatty acids, and lowered the protein/fat in the Performance food from 30/20 to 28/18. They've been looking to cut corners and it seems they went as low as they could go. My dogs have been having major problems with the formula change from incontinance to excessive nervousness/irritability. There's something wrong when a dog is ncapable of holding its urine for more than an hour and wakes up in a pool of its own pee :( Things were gettign so bad, what with irritable, nervous dispositionsand a complete loss of training, I thought of getting out of dogs. I used to swear by Euk. So, I don't care if they are effected or not by the recall, but the food has become junk. WAY to high priced a feed for corn & by products and no proteinated minerals. A dollar per pound for what??? Dandruffy, neurotic, incontinant dogs? UGH. Its even worse coming from Euk because I used and so highly recommended them for years. One of my pups I recently sold also had the same problem, so I know it wasn't just my dogs or a bad local batch. I'm preparing the dog's food now and I spend $1 per pound on average to give them real food, not processed junk ...

Boy, those of you (and you know who you are) that are offended by WORDS, are still missing my main point, and are simply focusing on the word retard...my main point is that the MEDIA didnt spend ANYWHERE NEAR this much time on the DIAMOND recall...Bill is correct that if there was as much hooplah over that recall, perhaps the other companies might have taken better steps to prevent this one from occuring. Hey JohnnyRingo, where did I mention any of those dogs??? Lighten up man, I was referring to bred down lapdogs and EVEN MENTIONED THEM BY NAME...you obviously can read, so re-read my original post, then THINK about what I wrote, instead of taking "offense" at a WORD that wasnt directed at your dog of choice.
Leah, I see almost every dog other than a good running beagle as a inferior piece of flotsam...if you have a problem with that, remember THIS IS A BEAGLE BOARD....not some FDA/EPA/Federal Government feel good website, ITS A BOARD DEDICATED TO PRIMARILY HUNTING BEAGLES. I consider trial hounds HUNTING HOUNDS as well....
Thanks Bill for actually understanding my post.

We are 5 40lb bags into the Euk Sporting Prem Performance!!! Maybe problems will show up later but we're sold on Euks quality so far.. Just heard tonight that Dr's Foster and Smith foods are the next ones on the list of bad foods!!! So far the only two brands of feed that'll ever touch my hounds lips for NOW are Purina and Euk.... PERIOD!!!!!! You know I remember during the Diamond fiasco last year that Euk said in an e-mail to us that their process for corn and rice wouldn't let aflotoxin through their system!! Now it may be BULLCRAP,,, But Good Bullcrap sure nufff!!! Thats ALL WE GOT HERE,,, Is TRUST.... God Bless the Ole USA through this one!!!! And We're so sorry for folks who've lost animals from this ordeal, hunting dogs or not!!!!

I've never been to their site before but my lab loves their food! --
---

My male beagle has such a sensitive tummy that too much of something else gives him diarreah. And thats no fun. My dogs eat Chicken Meal and Rice California Natural because that's a food he does real well on and he still loves it! I'd be really suprised if Natura foods had a pet recall. I hope and pray not though. Theres been enough of them. It's so scary. I wouldn't even buy dog treats at walmart before I had a feeling the recalls werent done.

I don't think Eukanaba is a quality food. I think somebody else bought it out and changed it, at least from what I heard a couple years ago anyways... But what ever wroks well for your dogs I'd say go with! My lab is fine and healthy on lesser quality foods..but my beagle jake, he can't eat beef, he's itchy on other brands, and he gets diarreah if he gets ahold of something else.

My dogs cost me 4$ each to feed a week but I only have two. I know someone with a big pack of beagles that would really get expensive!

I predicted this mess would end up in the human food chain and I'm attaching an article to show you just how. I'll also predict that before it's all said and done these contaminated ingredients will have ended up directly into human food as ingredients and not just through the animal feed chain.
Read it and weep as these same great scientist that state you have a safe food supply also state that a little rat poison won't kill you or your kids.
