Howdy folks,I have a problem with a couple of my young dogs that I need some advice on.I can't use an e-collar on them yet because I have neglected working them enough in the yard to do it.Recently when I took some of my pack out for a run in which I drove between a quarter and a half mile off a blacktop road on to the property I was running upon letting them go.......these two young dogs high tail it backwards right down the overgrown logging road we were on.......just the way we had come in but bass ackwards.Well I thought they were just going to go out of sight a little and go into the woods because they are both females and we all know that the hunt unlike alot of road running, leg hiking, taking there time to git in the woods boy dogs.Anyway they came back in about fifteen minutes and the rest of the pack were out in front of us and had been running a rabbit for a bit.....even the ol males and they went to them then.Well the next day which was today this friend of ours that works with my wife wanted to know had we been running the dogs over there yesterday evening and yeah we were.......she said she was coming down the hard road.......which is right near where her and my wife work, and saw two of our beagles in the road which at times has a lot of traffic. She pulled over and said she shooed them back in the woods.....thank goodness............ran them back our way.Boy she sure made my day and today when I took some of the beagles out I took only one of the truck back trackers with me and when she started it I ran her and got around her and told her no.........and made her go back up with the other grown dog i had there to.This is all I know to do untill I can get them to the point i can use a collar. If any of you have had this problem and can share ways to stop it other than a bullet .please let me know.........thanks all
Sincerely,FullCry

I've had that problem before. It was really bad if I didn't have a lot of time and they had to sit in the kennel for a week. They would just keep running past each other until something interrupts their straight line. I split mine up and it wasn't as bad. By themselves, they still ran every now and then but they didn't have another pup "leap-frogging" them so they didn't go nearly as far as when they were together. Another thing I did was turn them loose in the backyard and let them run around and get their play time in before I loaded them up. That worked out pretty good too.
