Hey Donnie,
That looks like a Patch hound  ? You might want to get him a sweater or something to keep any tri-color from rubbing off on him in your kennel

Now THAT was FUNNY!!

He does have a nice head. I would like to see the new and improved.

As for speed I know ours are fast!! We only get to hunt cottontails around here. But I know several of the Patch gang took theirs to Drummond last year. How did they make out chasing those hares??

Ours really shine on hare. We ran Dozer every day for about 8 hours last year on Drummond and he still acted like a goofball back at the cabin. Usually the dogs are curled up in a ball snoring after all that hard running. He's the only one that we ran all day everyday without switching him out.

Do any of you know where a nice Patch stud is that does not have the Pennyroyal Sweetie outcross in them ?
I am looking to breed a nice female next year, that is the tomcats kitten and she already has 2 crosses of my current stud in her & wanted to go away a little before I come back again. I found a dog on paper, bred exactly like I want named Tandy J Buchanon but cannot find out where he is or his owner or if he is even alive in order to watch him run.
Thanks in advance,
Plowboy
I am familiar with this dog. Andy Tandy Buchanon also
has a brother named Buchanon's General if this is the same male.
Mike Roach bred to these two alot and a friend of mine has a nice
male out of Andy Tandy and Lesage Penny that we have never breed.
This man must be somewhere in Kentucky. Frosty Buchanon I believe
is this males mother and Hammerdown Hillbilly is the sire. I have also
been looking for this male but can get little help. He should be still
alive however he should be approaching 10 - 12 years of age.

Dave, they could be in Ky I guess. As you know I owned Hammer. I owned Frosty for a short time too, but I let Bill Buchanan have her back. He later bred her to Hammer and that is the cross that produced Tandy and General. It's my understanding that Bill sold them to Mike Roach. Mike said he had owned them, but sold them.

I asked one of the boys what they were feeding those hounds and he said "Mostly rabbit tracks"---Willet Randall

I wish we had access to more areas to run in our area. We would love to find more people within a couple of hours drive that we could go run with. Let our hounds work with someone elses hounds more. Not alot of people in our area beagle. The few that do are mostly brace style beagles. Sage leaves em in his dust and will not work with them well. He is fast and efficient.

Tiffini,
If you look at your pedigree you will see Bo's Patch Gunsmoke, who is out of DG's Little Jake.
Jake is out of Pennyroyal Sweetie & her pedigree is on Lehners board somewhere, I have seen it before & I am not saying there is a thing wrong with it, I was just looking for something without it.
I don't trial much so height don't matter to me that much, I run around 14' hounds myself but have seen good in all sizes from 12" to 16"

JL Boomer,
Lesage Bill has about 3 crosses of Pennyroyal sweetie in him through the top side of Lesage Streak.
Pennyroyal Chubby & Butcher Holler Belle, Chubby is out of Boss Hogg IV, who is out of Pennyroyal Sweetie & Belle is a grand pup of Boss Hogg IV & Satterfields Hot Rod goes to Sweetie also.

Donnie,
That dog looks familiar, bet I know what he is out of...

JBM & Dave,
If you find either of them let me know & I will do the same.
I have a female that is getting old whos sire is out of My Hammer & Emmy Lou x Pennyroyal Patch Casey & Emmy Lou.
I have her bred right now to a male that has 8 crosses of Tusseys White Lady in 5 generations, half to Pennyroyal Patch Casey & half to Sandyline Booger Patch. Talk about Hammer breeding, its should be thick, but can't tell if she took yet, too soon.
Come run with me before it gets hot,
Plowboy

Plowboy,
You are right, my papers on Sage when I took a look didnt have. Only went back 5 gens. I knew my girls had it on the top line with Mike Eberles bloodlines and the Boss Hogg IV. Funny you mention Tussy's White Lady because when I was researching bloodlines a couple of years ago it was one I questioned. I have a copy of her 6 generation pedigree in my books. Some of which dates back to 1961 and shows the most of the breeders listed.

Funniest thing. Tomorrow, Easter, will be the 2nd anniversary of finding out we were getting our first Patch hound.... Dang they are addictive. We went from none to 3 in less then a year.

We're probably more than a couple hours away, but you're welcome to come run with us sometime, we've got some pretty good spots!

I have thought about that more then once. But would have to be an overnighter. I remember how long the drive was to Mikes to pick up Lacie. We got to his place and half way back in one day, but had to get a hotel and finish the trip the next day.
