Whelping box ideas

Post by In Pursuit »

I have a bitch that is due the end of August. I am going to build a whelping box for the big event. Looking for ideas. I plan to bring her up to the garage where I can keep a better watch on her, so I want something I can set-up and take down. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Also, does anyone do anything different for feeding a preganent bitch? How about supplements?

I would definitly put 2 x 4 about 3" off the bottom of the floors. Screw the 2" side to the wall of the house so that the 4" side is sticking out. This will keep the mother from laying on the pups and smothering them when she's having them.

I use a large dog crate that I hace for my Rotwieler. I bring my dog im the house where I can keep a close on her while she is having her pups. I will have used this on four litters when she has this litter at the end of this month. Chuck
