I may be moving to Baldwinsville New York if everything goes according to plan sometime this summer. Baldwinsville is a couple of miles North of Syracuse.

Is there anyone on here that lives nearby that could give me a little info on hunting grounds, etc.....Is there cottontail or is hare territory? i don't know anything about this place yet.

Thanks,
Steve

Mostly cottontail locally there I believe, but you are a stones throw from hare country, lots of state land North of Utica & Syracuse. Mike

There used to be a Southern New York Beagle Club located near Saratoga Springs but that basically disbanded a couple years ago. I know there are plenty of field Beaglers in the area that you are moving to because the field Beaglers helped organize a specialty show for us showbeaglers in 2003. I am not sure of the details of the issues that caused the club to split up but I get the feeling that the field guys went off on their own...so they could still be out there using a similar name...Good Luck! There are plenty of AKC Conformation Shows held out that way every year too!

thanks for the reply. For my sake, i hope i can find some fellow beaglers there. It's hard to move your family and across country without knowing whatto expect, and then you throw in there dragging your dogs to. I'm up to the challege of finding new hunting spots and running friends if that is what it takes. I was just hoping a few people on here might be from there.

I need to get my dogs out with yours and Rods to fresh-n up on their coyote skills  I heard you guys have some real nice ones in your pack :D :D .

If they keep multipling like they are it may be the better hunt anyways.

Since I have had beagles, I have moved from IL to ID to MO and now to MI. I can tell you one thing, beaglers are everywhere. You will find great people everywhere you go and each person has something new to contribute to your beagling knowledge. As for finding new ground. All that comes with time. I started on cottontail, then went to jacks, then back to cottontails with some snowshoes thrown in when I go home to visit. It's all good! :)

Best of luck on your move.
