Once in a lifetime dog

Post by tiny »

For a limited time offer I have for sale an 18 month old male beagle, blackcreek on top and shorts on bottom side. He will burn up a rabitt for about 40 feet and then turn and walk the line backwards head down with a nice chop mouth. When the line runs out to the point of jump he will stay there for about 5 minutes and blow a hole in the ground. He also has other great qualities such as excessive barking in the kennel. He is black and white with some ticking on his legs, very pretty hound. If anyone is interested I will show in the field or give a 30 day trial period money back guranteed if he doen't do every thing I said he would do. He is also an excellant pack hound. The only reason I am letting him go is to make room in my kennel for an upcoming litter. If you are interested shoot me an email. I will consider trading for some vintage better beagling magazines......circa 1980's Thank you, your fellow beagler TINY

He's not an ARHA champion yet but he does come from a long line of AKC small pack option field champions. This is the fourth AKC SPO type dog I have owned and this one turned out basically the same as the three previous ones. All four dogs were from four different breeds but I am amazed at the consistency of the running style they all have in common.

I had good luck with Shorts bloodline years ago. Only fault was they were a little mouthy but they could run a rabbit all day long and never lose it unless it went to ground. They were medium speed. Nice hounds. Four dogs all doing the same thing from different lines seems a little odd to me.

I'm sure there are some great SPO dogs out there somewhere or I would not have thrown my money away four different times trying to get one. As far as my training technicues I feed my dogs rabbit tracks and basic instinct takes over from there. I have raised deer dogs, coon dogs and now rabbit dogs and it is all basically the same way to train, if they got it in em they will run.My training facilities are top of the line loaded with rabbits. My large pack hounds were trained the same way, yes they are loose on the line, yes they will over run the end of the line sometimes, but I can carry a gun with me when I run and kill all the bunnies I want to. I am no quitter I wiil try one more SPO dog before I give up but this time I will buy it somewheres else besides Texas or Lousiana.

are u looking for a ubgf style like u have or are u wanting more of a mid west style hound. u need to pay close attion to ubgf style hounds. they do have extra mouth and as for back traking i would stand on the line about 39 feet and when they turn around i would give them a nice kick in the pants.

mid west hounds are totally difrent. speed with line control.

good luck

Sounds to me like you should just stick with the large pack hounds. Why are you wanting a slower type hound?
