I hate a dog that will run a deer!!!!!!! I hate a backtracker!!!!!!!! I might pull up and shoot either one.
What I love is a JUMP DOG. I also love a hound that runs a rabbit effortlesslly.

Makes me the maddest at the dog. If it goes back to running trash after being trained off it and not doing it for a long time. Makes me the maddest at myself - If a dog doesn't listen. Knowing I haven't invested the time into properly training my dog.
What makes me the happiest. A dog that has huge hunt desire that consistently works hard to jump and run rabbits. The one that's all business when it comes to rabbit hunting.

I guess the thing i hate the most is a lieing dog. I don't mind an extra bark or two, but don't lay down false lines. A close second is a dog that stands around at my feet while other dogs are hunting. There are a lot of faults that I won't put up with other than these, but these will get you cut from the A Team in a hurry.
I would say that a dog that wants to please me is my favorite quality in a dog. I love to see one hunt hard and jump rabbits and then drive with speed and accuracy, but none of my buddies will let me borrow thier dogs, so I guess I will have to stick with my old clunkers and settle for just plain old rabbit dogs that like to stay in my good graces.

CRAZY
A LOT OF THE PROBLEMS MENTIONED CAN BE FIXED,DEER ,NOT LISTENING,OR NOT COMMING WHEN CALLED,LOADING UP, KENNEL BARKING ARE ALL PROBLEMS THAT CAN BE FIXED.I WON'T KEEP A DOG VERY LONG ,IF IT GOES IN A BRIAR PATCH AND COMES RIGHT BACK OUT,OR COMES OUT AND QUIT'S A HARD CHECK.
WHAT I LIKE IS A DOG THAT HAS NO RESPECT FOR IT'S BODY,GET'S IN THE BRIAR'S.AND KNOW'S WHY IT IS IN THERE.TO JUMP A RABBIT.AND WILL STAY AND WORK OUT THE HARD CHECK'S.
KEEP'EM RUNNING

If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered
Biggest pet peeve: Mouthy dogs - the ones that never shut up, and I've been in trials where there were some like it in my cast. After 20 minutes of hearing that dog's mouth (when no others are barking) I want to go in and snatch it out of there.
Second Biggest pet peeve: A dog that anchors in the check. UGH. The other dogs have gone on and taken the check out, and that dog is still glued there and blowing like a howler monkey. I wanna go drive my boot into its butt (and have come close, but it wasn't my dog, lol.)
Third Biggest pet peeve: Shyness.
Back tracking, quitting, etc. are a given as unacceptable.
Assets: Brains, cooperation, correct mouth, decent foot. Doesn't have to be a nitrous burner, just be able to pressure the rabbit.

Traits that make me MAD
1.Swinging automatically in the check,I'm talking about when the pack is pounding, goes quiet and in less then 30 seconds you see the swinger out on a dead run 50 yards away then 30 seconds later 100 yards.
2.Opening when it does not smell the rabbit.Popping off, ghost trailing, babbling in the check, pulling from the check, blowing past where you seen the rabbit cut and barking every breath
3.No hunt
No redemption in anything else it does well.
Things that make me pay for the food, clean the crap, study pedigrees, spend hours and hours training a young dog,
Hearing a race go for hours.
Going hunting just because you have the time finally and even though its raining, melting snow,10 degrees and old snow, wind is out of the east....you still get your limit.
Watching a pure jump dog go to work.
listening to a pup open and run a rabbit for the very first time
