I use a TC contender when just running dogs and having fun. When I get hungry for rabbit I use a Browning 2000 20ga. barrel cut down to 20" with a sling and Fiochi golden pheasant 7.5 shot. Short barrel doesn't catch on tree limbs, this combo works well with quail to. I have a little black tan gyp that loves to retrieve quail to me and a tri color that retrieves rabbits but not quail.

I shoot an old 16 guage side by side. I have a much newer autoloader but the side by side is great cause you can choose your choke for the particular shot.

Me too. When you are hunting rabbits you may get a shot anything from a few yards on out to 40 something. I use a 12 sxs with a spreader (polywad) load of #8 in the modified barrel and a high brass #4 or 5 in the choke. Armed like that, even bad as I shoot the rabbit ain't got a chance. The polywad shell will make a full choke gun shoot like a cylinder bore and throws a real good pattern.

Ithica Feather weight 16 ga. or Stevens 12 ga sxs love the sxs but heavy. Most times if hunting alone I use a Colt Trooper 22 lr.

Been eyeing one of those stage coach sxs's tho. Anyone use one of them? Look very quick to pull up and manueverable in the nasty stuff.

I use an Itailian 20 ga Over/Under with high brass 7 1/2 shot with 1 oz.. Its reciever is beautifully engraved silver but its a field model and appears to be a low end version asside from the reciever. Its a rabbit gun deluxe, I use it to pry away the multi flora, drop it,use it in the rain. My 12 year old uses a 20 ga youth model 870...

Browning A-5 Sweet 16, full choke 6 shot. Take that head off at close range and reach out and touch'em when they barrell across the soybean or cornfields at about 50 yards and light to pack all day long. Also have a Savage 745 lightweight auto 12 IMP CYL that I like but it aint near as forgiven at close range
