A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)

Come on Bev I'm one of Rick's friends , you couldn't survive for one day around here if you couldn't dish it out as well as you could take it !!!! Besides I hope none of our friends from down south took it personally. I'm kind of an official southerner , I lived in Mississippi for seven years .
Carl, I'm originally from Tennessee. The reason I know the toothbrush was invented in Tennessee is because if it were invented anywhere else, it would be called a teethbrush. *ducks flying tomatoes*
I know first-hand about being around Rick and trying to hold ur own, LOL. I'm usually laughing so hard I just wheeze.
Man dont ya all just love B-bustin! Its so wonderful to know that busting onCarl seems to be "Internationaly fun".. We hunted again yesterday 1/7/07, and it was nice to see that guns are still used to harvest bunnies. Max, and the pack thanks you guys as well. Once again a great time had by all...Carl, I really think that new hunting jacket makes you look chubby!
On a side note:
Have to share a story of post hunt. After our hunt we returned to Tony Serra's house for lunch again. (thank you Mrs. Serra! Your the only reason we like Tony!) Tony showed me some pictures of his dad and uncles from back in the day! deer hunting, Jack rabbit hunting, fishing...you name it. What a crew these old timmers made!
On the very last page of the photo album, a face stood out to me. In past years those of you who have read my stories, or kennel interviews, have read the name, Marty Cardamone. Marty, was the man responsible for me getting into beagles. If not for him, Smokes Creek hounds would not exist, period!
Marty passed away 10 yrs ago this month. Guess what? There in that picture taken 47 years ago, holding 4 Canadian Jack rabbits (almost as big as a beagle) was Tony's Uncle Sam Serra, and Marty! I almost teared up right on the spot. My mentor, hunting Idol, and adopted father, then 39 yrs old in that photo! Tony let me take the photo to copy, and last night I presented it to Marty's widow and son. Alot of smiles, memories and tears! I also made a 8x10 for "Legends Lodge", where I will proudly hang it today,
Tony's uncle who took those photo's is still kicking and will be joining us for a hunt next week. What do you guys think? How about me doing a interview, with some of those old hunting pictures? These old timmers shaped our sport and to me are rabbit hunting heros!
That picture meant so much to me as well as the Cardamone family! Funny how rabbit hunting can connect so many people. I will try and get that picture scanned today so it can be posted here. It is worth a million words!
Thank you again Tony, and thank you all for reading this heart touching story!
Great stuff!!! Always love hearing about those legends in beagling history that's what makes this lifestyle the best, trialing takes a backseat to this anyday in my book.
Carl,
I thought your family just had a baby ??? still looks like someone is expecting in that picture???? Oh well I just had to bust ya a little bit. Its amazing how much fun guys can have when they get together with some good dawgs and some good guys and do what we should all do...HUNT BUNNIES. I wish i could have been there. I had the hounds out Saturday and had 11 rabbits up and running in 4 hours...awful windy or something cause we only shot 4 of them but hey it was fun. Hope to see Ricky G soon and we will have some great stories to talk about after that I am sure.Rick I called last night and I only have 1 little female pup left, she is the tri-colored runt of the litter. all the rest went fast. call me
Geez Bill you just had to jump in and kick a guy while he was down . Well at least my weight never reached the engine displacement of a 1974 Buick LOL . Hey Buddy how have you been ? I hope all is well with you . When are you coming up ? Then you can pick on me in person LOL . The way half the guys we've been hunting with have been shooting we could use a few more hunters . The score stands at Max 2, hunters 2 for the last 2 outings .
Carl,
I can't believe you picked on my weight!!! I lost an entire Ricky G worth of weight and you still beat on my weight... I just can't win....LOL. Hey it was funny when they thought you looked like Rick...I thought you looked more like Glen Hotaling.... a fellow New Yorker. Oh well I hope all is going wll and make sure you buy some little doggy goggles for when I come up with these PA power dogs.. see ya
Bill
Bill, you lost a whole me plus a backpack full of canned goods! I told Carl to be nice and reminded him that your comming up soon.....He told me he is excited about being choke slammed by you...lol Please, for me dont crush a dog with him! see ya soon!
Hey Carl,
the last time I saw Big Jack in a scap he used the Coke oven shuffle and hit a guy with so many rights the guy was begging for a left...Rick and I have a special agreement. we never battle each other cause its too much fun teasing you guys...chubby little buddy!!! and I would be HONORED to tag team with Big Jack...he and I would combine for well over 700 pounds of fighting, biting and beer drinking love monsters...see ya
Well Bill , I guess big Jack is more accurate with his right hand than he is with his 12 gauge, since he went 0 for 2 last Sunday LOL. The reason I said that about wrestling is that the first time I met Big Jack we were running dogs and while we were waiting for the bunny to come around standing on the railroad tracks, Rick looks at Big Jack all serious like and says
" I want to wrestle you big guy I think I could take you " .
I laughed my A** off , but I somehow think Rick meant it LOL .
As for that 700 pounds thing I wouldn't be concerned with that . Together Rick and I would tilt the scales at about 360 or so , with a combined height of a whopping 11' 1 or 2 inches ! I still think we could take you LOL.
Anyway its been too long buddy, haven't seen you since Rick's party in the summer. I'm looking forward to hunting with you when you come up . There should still be lots of bunnies to hunt , we as a group haven't been shooting too well .
