Introduction and looking for info in PA

Post by miltiades »

I am looking for a local club or starting pens that are close to Clarion or Jefferson counties in PA. I have seen Old town beagle club in Dubois and Fryburg beagle club, but cannot find a way to contact either of them.

I recently purchased two pups and would really like to get them started right. Any help would be great.

Thanks
Ben

Introduction

Post by miltiades »

I guess I should say hi to all on the board. I am from west central PA and have been around beagles all my life. I had gotten away from the scene for a long time and finally decided it was time to make another go of it.

I recently purchased two heavily bred weircreek pups (16 weeks) and am looking to getting them into some running pens. I have started them on domestic rabbits and both are great sight chasers. I am afraid to keep them at it anymore for fear of ruining their noses. I have some rabbit hunting spots around, but would like to find some pens with a high percentage of bunnies to get the pups noses working.

Anyway, hi and thanks again for any info.

Thanks, that PA gundog site is pretty nice. I actually took them over to cris axtell(coal hill kennels) yesterday. We started a few tame bunnies and boy did the pups react to them. One opened up for the first time right away and I dont think the other is too far behind.

Cris has a real nice starting pen and an even better attitude. I am relatively new to beagling and he made me feel right at home.

Pat, Thanks, I have only heard good things about cris and his kennel. Rick G and Bill Damiano both recommended him.

I'm glad to have my pups at a good place, but I kinda miss having them here.

Cris, thanks for the update. Talk to you this weekend.

Chris is a great guy! He started 5 pups for us so far. I highly praise his pen, his honesty and his work! I will be bringing him a pup at months end, and several more to follow!
See if he has anymore of his homemade berry wine!.....long ride home!

Best pup starter Ive come across!!! just one complaint.......he give them pups too much attention..They expect to be petted and praised when they get home. Had to break em of all that lovey dovey stuff!...lol

cris ,

I'm glad to hear that my boys are coming along well.

Those pups of yours are impressive. If I was in the market, I would be really interested. They look great, have the desire to hunt, and you cant beat their breeding.

Talk to you later
Ben
