Boldstroke Beagles "The other B"
Beagle101, I have a few of them myself. They are cottontail bred hounds that have a lot of heart and desire. The rest I'll leave up to your pups to tell. TomR

boldstroke pups
I have a sister to your pair beagle101. I just picked mine up this past weekend. It was way too hot to do any running at all but I am really hearing good things about them and expecting quite a dog when it reaches age. Gil was a real good guy and looking forward to dealing with him in the future.
Congradulations on your new pups. You can`t go wrong with the Boldstroke Line.Gil Davis has done some great work breeding them. Thats why you don`t see too many for sale, the ones that have them, keep them. They are bred for quality not quantity!! I have some of these wonderful hounds and I am setting a few lucky people up with some pups next week.
In my opinion they are some of the hardest hunting dogs around with the brains and speed to go with it.
Good Luck with your pups and remember a dog is only as good as its owner. Paul

i got two dogs from gill. one has a home here for life.. a very good dog . she will run a hare way below zero. it took her awhile to make the switch to hare.. when she did ,she did in a big way . the other id say was better than average but died unexpectedly . he was still improving and im pretty sure he would have made a great dog . gil if you read this max is dead. i have one pup out of max that is almost a clone.. pete
I have always been interested in the Boldstrokes but have never owned one. I have always heard they had great hunt and big nose but i never tried to get one cause I thought they didn't have enough foot to run with the bigger patches that i keep. Haven't thought about them for awhile but this post has sparked my interest again. Am i wrong on the foot speed and would they fit in with a fast hard hitting type pack (probably loose according to alot of peoples standards).
I would like to hear more about them and would even consider calling Mr.Davis if i knew him.
Alright guys educate me you have my interest!
Thanks,
Brian

The Boldstroke line that comes from Gil Davis are UKC registered. They used to be AKC registered until Gil felt like he was getting blackmailed by them. If you want to know more about that story do a search on this site for Gil Davis/Boldstroke.
As far as the ability most can run, hunt , out last most other lines IMHO. You are not going to have a line of dogs and not have some that are not up to par, thats a fact. But overall they are way above average. This line has produce many , many rabbit champions and many, many gun dogs as well. This line can be traced back for I think 40 or 50 years, Gil has all of these records and he is a third generation breeder. They are made up of almost pure line bred hounds with a few select outcrosses , most of the bad traits have been weeded out and produces some real fine hounds over and over and over.
As far as what you have seen run and what you don`t like about them I don`t know. But then every lilne of hound doesn`t suit everybody. If you are close to NC look me up and I will show you what I have and see if you change your mind and if not we can still meet and talk dogs. Paul

Boldstroke "the other B"
Seems like every time the name Boldstroke comes up some guy named Don asks what registry they are.
I don't know if he is implying something or what. You would think he figured it out by now, Gill's personal dogs in his kennel are UKC as of now. Any hounds he sold prior to his AKC problems still have AKC papers. Any Boldstroke hound owned by someone else still has AKC papers. I hope that clears things up for you Don. TomR

Bloodlines
One thing Gil mentioned and I agree with is the fact that some people will have 2-3 dogs of a bloodline in a 3 generation pedigree yet still call them by that bloodline. I see it with Boldstroke, Branko and others. Maybe the dogs(s) Don has saw run have been that case. Had a dog or two of the Boldstroke line in there but outcrossed with another line. Hey Paul, I picked up a female out of Musket and Jumper last weekend.
Boldstroke????
I have ask the question of what registry the boldstroke dogs are several times and this is the first time I have gotten an answer. this explains the e why the question was re ask.thank you for answering GILL.
