ok you all have slamed me for saying you are whinning. But I would like to point out going threw the July issue there are pictures of any hunts in MO. Now I will admit while I do not know where Randolph County Club is or where Holmes Conservation Beagle Club are located I am going to take a pretty safe stab and say not in MO because having gone to most of the hunts in MO I do not reconize any persons in the photos and they were the Nationals and All American Youth Hunts which should be covered. The kennel that was spot lighted was a kennel in Ohio. NY and LA are the other two states that are talked about. Now other than the page add about beagles in MO and a littl league baseball team I would like to know where you all are getting off saying thay you are having to read all this stuff about MO that you did not want to read? Oh yeah and don't let me forget the El Salvador beaglers that are mentioned. They are not in MW either.

Sorry folks you are not doing the constructive critisim, you are not being proactive. You want to be positive in your comments have the facts. make direct suggestions. e.g. I would like to see the articles but the minister back he was cool to read once a month.

ok . If Bev says she will even suggest that it reach print I will do a couple more rabbit hunting articles for the mag and send them to her this season, heck I'm taken a young boy to run dogs today I may just find one there. Bev has published five out of sevin articles that I have sent her, One was not very good, about a bad day field trialing (bad due to weather) and really short, and later I read my origional copy and was glad it wasn't printed . I did two on habitat and both were published, heck I may just do another one on habitat and cover this winter . I have renewed my subsription as of today. I will give the new owners a reasonable amount of time, I will say that I want more articles and less trial info ratio , the last few magazines has been a lot like another magazine and if I want that I would get the other one. I currently get: The Rabbit Hunter and The American Beagler. I get The Rabbit Hunter for the NKC results and I'm not complaing about all the AKC,UKC, PKC, and etc results in The American Beagler , They need those and have subsribers that want that, They just need to make it a few pages bigger and add some hunting articles or some info articles, I guesss the Magizine has just been the best for several years and it is looking as appealing , but I guess I can always look forward for the editors page, and by the way; The Houndsman has been missing from The Rabbit Hunter and that was the best part of that Magazine. Time to get off here and run dogs!!!

That's tjhe spirit, Hearld. The cost of a year's subscription is less than a pizza dinner. I have your two articles and I'm polishing them up for printing. A father/son combo thing.

Sally, I want to feature your whelping house for starters. Remember I told you to take pictures thru each stage? Some of the folks here have seen it, but there are a few thousand others who haven't.

You can write about whatever you wish, or feel you are well-versed about (which is a lot).

Watch it, TC. I'm good at digging up dirt if I need, to. (lmao)

Bev,

I don't really have a problem with beaglers running on fox or anything else that they want for that matter. To me that's running trash. Whatever floats your boat. I do have a problem with fox in general. They have over populated in my neck of the woods, and as far as I am concerned, the only good fox is a streched one. I guess maybe thats why it gets under my skin a little. You're 100 percent correct, that everybody deserves equal coverage. I'm gonna shut my mouth for now, so I don't have to taste my foot.

I'll tell you what, I was gonna send you an e-mail to ask, but maybe others would like to know as well. Can you make some suggestions for what you need for an article? Like how long it should be. What format? What size of pictures work best?

Pictures, as large as you can get them (for high end printing). Don't minimize or size pictures down. Send them as large as you can at the highest resolution possible - even if you must send them on a disk. If they are hard copy photos, send them and the publisher will scan them in at the best resolution.

Article length? No limit. Talk until you're blue in the face because most articles come in just a little short once it's in print. Seems like you've written a lot, but when it's laid out, it's only a page or two. If it's excessive in length but a good article, it can be printed in two sequels. (one guy told me the perfect length for an article is what you could start and finish sitting on the toilet, ROTF). I say go into great detail and describe everything as best you can. Tell it like you're telling a friend and you want to make him feel like he/she were there. We can always edit - we can't add to your story.

As far as the beagle on fox being "trash running" (and other game) it was a long-standing tradition to run both beagles and foxhounds on fox. Americans pretty much made the move to run beagles on rabbit only, and that could be one reason why they have over populated your neck of the woods, but originally they were bred to run both... and to jump pheasants while they were at it. I'm not trying to change your mind, but those who have done it can vouch. A beagle on fox trial in a fox pen is an exhilirating thing to behold. It downright spoils you if you like heads up honkin', all day drivin', and seeing the game, but it takes a dog and a half to hang. None of this "run for 3 hours a few times a week" to condition these dogs. They also excel on hare. Those lucky enough to have access to this sport are to be envied, IMO.

I'm glad you are considering submitting something. When I first started The American Beagler, my motto was "For the beaglers, and BY the beaglers." We give what we can to each other.

I've been sitting here reading all these posts about the TAB. I've been a subscriber since the very first issue. I think it is a great magazine! Is it changing, of course it is. That is the way the world is, to refuse to change and adapt is to become extinct. I subscribe to two other beagle magazines also and will continue to do so because they all offer something a little different.
I didn't know the new owners until they came to our Club for a couple of hunts. Nice folks and committed to improving the Breed and making the American Beagler even better. Yes, I've had a couple of issues since the change of ownership. One quick phone call took care of the first issue and talking to Janie personally at the hunt took care of the other. How much better can customer service get than that?

Be patient folks, because I'm sure that the Ridenhours didn't buy TAB to have it fail! ;)
