my diary says dec 13th its 20 degrees and the wind is blowing 30mph. i stayed in the house beside the fire because im not stupid. on the 14th i killed my limit and ate good on the 15th.

Kazoo, running to much rabbit is equal to hooking, swinging, got to have the front at all cost with very little regard for the line. But as of yet I've never heard this from a judge, only from a disgruntled handler leaving the woods before field trial is called or on this computer.

Hooking and swinging is hooking and swinging. Nothing wrong with that if the dog doesn't lose the rabbit or mess up a pack of honest dogs or cause too many checks. Most of this type lose rabbits or cause too many checks and mess up a pack of honest dogs. My dog wasn't hooking or swinging or running the front at all costs. He was running the line too fast for the other dogs to keep up and that annoys a lot of judges and handlers. I had a bitch once that hooked and swung and hardly ever lost a rabbit. In her case though, she caused a lot of checks and although she could pick them, it slowed down the chase too much and I sold her to my buddy who really liked her. He shoots a lot of rabbits with her. When we hunt together I make him leave her at home.

AS HAS ALREADY BEEN STATED HOOKING AND SWINGING IS JUST THAT.
AND IN THE CASES THAT I'VE BEEN INVOLVED IN, THE EXACT WORDS FROM THE JUDGES MOUTH WERE "RUNNIN TOO MUCH RABBIT."
AFTER 20 MINUTES OF RUNNING THEY PICKED UP THE LAST DOG FOR NOT DOING ENOUGH WORK JUDGES WORDS, AND THE FRONT DOG TOO MUCH RABBIT.
AND THAT WAS MY FIRST AKC SPO TRIAL, SO I ASKED WHAT WAS THE REASON MY DOG WAS PICKED UP? NOT DISGRUNTLED, JUST WANTING TO LEARN, FOR MY OWN UNDERSTANDING OF HOW THINGS WERE DONE AND WHY.
MY DOG RAN THE LINE CORRECTLY, BUT WAS 5-TO-10 YARDS AHEAD OF THE REST OF THE CASE THE ENTIRE 20-MIN. NO HOOKING, SWINGING, OR ANYTHING ELSE. JUDGES WORDS ALSO, JUST TOO MUCH RABBIT.
I TOOK THAT AS A COMPLEMENT TO MY DOG, COUNDN'T BE DISGRUNTLED ABOUT A COMPLEMENT, NOT THEN AND NOT SINCE WHEN THE SAMETHING HAS HAPPENED. AND I'M GOING AGAIN ASAP!!

The only way I could see a dog running "TOO MUCH RABBIT" is if the dog was out front of the rabbit. Never heard of anything so ridiculous. The whole reasoning of a dog running game is to fill their stomachs and therefore they would run to catch or overtake. Now, I realize that NOT all run that way but that's what they're bred for. How in the world could one run too much in the pursuit of their quarry? I'd liken that to saying a bird dog was pointing too much bird or a coon dog was treeing too much coon. They are supposed to be pursueing their quarry with the least amont of disruptions to the chase.
