breeding
After looking on the trading post i've seen guys who keep reduceing their prices on pups. just wondering how many people sell their pups before they breed their dog. Before i breed i make sure i have enough people interested in the pups this way i dont get stuck with unwanted puppys. these guys that keep reduceing prices to me look like they are out just to make a buck and are stuck with unwanted pups. i hope not to offend anyone just wondering if anyone else does it the way i do.
Yup thats the way it is here!Joe P. wrote:I don't worry about having the pups sold before the breeding. I make a breeding for me and no one else. If I sell them fine if I don't fine.
I do a breeding FOR ME to try and improve on what I have.
We evalute the pups on conformation at 8 weeks and if it dont fit the criteria that we have then I will sell it, We dont get in any hurry to sell any of our pups.
We keep the ones that we think Might best fit and start looking at them as far as hunt starting at twelve weeks this way we weed out the ones that we dont think are gonna cut it for our breeding program.
We Breed with a Set goal in mind.
From Field to Show and Show to Field the way it should be

I just bred a female because I wanted some pups out of her and the sire. I plan on trying to keep the whole litter but if I cant I guess I would try to sell them for whatever I could get. I am not into breeding for money I just want some more dogs with these genetics in my kennel, that being said if I priced them and they were not selling I guess I would try to lower the price to move them. It is the American way to try to get the best deal possible. Just my humble opinion, Tom Clouse

I agree with you guys i breed for me to see if what im doing with my hounds is working and if they will produce and better what i have. but im only able to keep 2 or 3 pups at a time so this forces me to sale some. now on the other side of things im not trying to make money with dogs but it is nice to be able to sale a few pups to help out with the feed bill and so i can further on my breeding program. im lucky if i raise a litter every other year or so.

I raise a litter about every three years never try to sell any of them. just put a price on the ones I don`t want to keep. If they don`t sell right away raise the price 50.00 dollars and wait another couple of months and do it again By the time they or 6 months old they or gone. Works for me. Roy
