We're soft-hearted I guess. We have buried a lot of dogs & over the years it has gotten harder for us, not easier.

Plus, I want to make sure his behaviour isn't my fault. If my husband is right & I made him the way he is, it's my fault, not his. But if he is just a dog that was born nutty, that is a different story.

I am not trying to be rude, but your husband may be just as much the problem here. You are prolonging the inevitable. You say these are your first beagles. News Flash, they are not supposed to be aggressive in any way. This dog is TROUBLE and needs to be dealt with.

No, you're not being rude at all jogletree. You may be right. He has put doubts into my mind, that is for sure.

And one reason we got beagles is b/c we were tried of aggressive dogs. And look what we ended up with. Go figure. lol.

As a side note I went out to the kennel today to put pools out. Trouble ran & hid behind his dog house at first. I tapped the top of the doghouse & he eased up on top of the house & let me pet him. I pulled on his ears, on the nap of his neck & tugged his flank fur. Not real hard, but hard enough. I do this to get dogs used to being handled, as in the real wordl they're not always handled w/ kid gloves. The only thing he did was whimper a little.

No aggression ... this time.

I would give Cesar's approach a try before putting him down. I have seen him handle some awful vicous dogs and have them passive after a couple of hours.

Email me if you want more info.

Best of luck.
