Katrina: Heat a tea bag in a coffee cup of water. Let it cool enough that it won't burn you or the dog and squeeze the strong tea onto the spot. The tanic acid in the tea will help dry it up. Tanic acid is also one of the active ingredients in Anchor Blue Lotion Spray if you happen to have some on hand.

Thanks Chuck! Now THATS the kind of home remidies I was talking about. Something most folks just have on hand! Great info Chuck!

Well No luck finding the sulfidine but I DID luck into finding something else!!!
I asked the same question on the SPO board and a couple of folks suggested I order some NU-STOCK. This stuff is supposed to cure hot spots, red mange, earmites cuts, ext. I found it in the feed store and got the last jar. Will give it a go and tell yall the results. I don't believe everything I read or hear about when it comes to these wonder products but will see if it is any better than the sulfidine and share my opinion if yall are interested. It aint cheap at $9.50 a jar v/s the $4.00 for the other.

I put about a pint of diesel on a dog one time and he ran for about a mile, then he just fell over. He didn't die though he just ran out of fuel.

Ray: I have heard of the WD-40 but I have never tried it - too many other things that work. It makes sence though - it's a "Water Displacer" and a fungus can not live in a dry environment. I am going to have to try it!

What all these home remedies have in common is they lift the moisture as Chuck has said and form a barrier to any moisture. They them lubricate the skin or flesh to make the animal now keep scratching and be comforted until the sulpher or another ingredient can do the healing.

Make up your own, as long as it does as outlined, it will work.
Used motor oil is naturally lifting and when used, the more miles on it, the more natural sulphur is in it and the more acid that will kill a mite, like in mange. New motor oil does not have the sulphur or the acid.
The brake fluid I suggested has a more finely absorbed in the skin oil and a sticking substance that will keep it where you put it that makes a dog more comfortable that's all.

I would like to see a judge at a show run her hands along the body to feel bone structure and coat and bring back motor oil!!!!!

Alabama John, I have used old black dirty motor oil for mange and any other bald spot on my dogs for years. Never worry why they have a bald spot I always keep some ole real dark used motor oil in a plastic container. I just take a cheap paint brush and paint them up. It's always worked for me. I've got an ol 65 dump truck that I use very seldom so I never change the oil in it every 3000 miles so it gets pretty nasty by the time it gets change and I also keep the oil after changing it in my lawn mowers. That stuff gets dark pretty quickly. Of course there's not much but it don't take much for dog painting.

Sulfer

Post by fulcount »

The oil is just a carrier for the sulfer to heal the sores I used vaseline years ago with the sulfer and it worked as well as anything the baby oil idea sounds good to me
sulfer can be bought in most drug stores real reasonable

Well the Nu-stock worked but slower IMO than the sulfidine. That stuff is expensive but nothing special and not worth the money to me. I won't buy it again for that purpose unless I just can't stock up on the other.

I went by a different wal-mart tonight and STILL couldn't find any Sulfidine. They have the sticker on the shelve but no product. I might need to call and complain cause SURELY they ALL (7 Wal-marts over 70 miles) aint sold out.......Someone just aint doing their job!
