i have the 3 dog beagler and have had trouble with the tail of the collars staying under the plastic loop. last yr. i lost one due to this and started using tape , taping the tail of the collar secure. in wet running the tape would slide off. so i drilled a small hole through the collar and nameplate, using very small fine threaded flat headed bolts. the flat heads are against the dog and the nuts on the outside. I used a hand grinder to grind the bolt off flush with the nut. Now i havent had one collar to come loose.
I think a lot of folks may of replaced the collars to cure this.
Tritronics should remedy this problem and also the charging plugs are a weak setup as they tend to disconnect with a bump .

Hey I have that same problem how do you get the collar off once its been bolted ?did you try duct tape?

I get a tube for a bicycle tire and cut off 1" piece, which created a heavy duty rubber band. Wrap this piece around the collar twice, which creates a tight fit. Tuck the collar end under this band and it will hold it securely. Most bike shops will give you an old bike tire tube. This is quick and easy and inexpensive!

Here is a portion of an article I wrote for RHO. This may help your problem.

I finally found what I think is the best way to attach my collars to my dogs in a way that will be the most comfortable for the dogs and the most secure for me. I always put the e-collar behind the regular collar my dogs wear. The regular collar in front will help keep the e-collar from "rolling" off a dog, over its head. Then I started using zip-ties to help secure the collar to the dog. I go to a hardware/home improvement store and buy the 100 count bags of zip-ties for just over a buck or two. After putting the collar on the dog, I simply slide a zip-tie around the collar near the buckle and pull tight. The zip-tie will keep the tag end of the collar from coming up and loosing from the buckle and the collar falling off. When done using the e-collar, simply slice the zip-tie off and toss in the trash. The price paid for the zip-ties in comparison to the price of a set of e-collars; the zip-ties are well worth investing in!

Yep, I lost a tritronics last year and now I also screw em on. Still would not trade my tritronics for the inoteck.

What is wrong with Innotek? I have used the Beagle Master for 3 yrs now. My buddy has Tritronics and wants to switch for all the same reasons that brusherdw, plus he likes how Innoteks collars are smaller and not as bulky.

let me tell you something about tritronics.
i own the flyway special as i have my first lab. went duck hunting and in loading the pirogue to leave i put my gun/jacket/tritronics controller on the prarie grass next to the pond as i was leaving. got home and noticed that my controller was missing. went back hunting the next day, however, we had an east wind that blew all night and the tide rose over a foot and a half. controller under water. took it home, took everything apart and tried to dry it as best i could. it worked,,,,, for two weeks. called tritronics about it, they said since it was a flyway special and they hadn't been out but 1 and 1/2 years that it was still under warranty. i sent the collar and controller in, they sent me a brand new controller. they also replaced the collar part,,, not the part with the leads, but the plastic collar that goes all the way around the dog's neck, because it was worn.
i will buy tritronics products for the rest of my life. this company truly stands behind it's product and honors it's customers.
i don't work for them, know anyone who does or anything like that. also don't have any axes to grind with any other companies, this flyway special was the first collar i ever bought. just one very satisfied customer. wish i could use a collar for my beagles.

yes, tritronics are great people that provide execellent service !! also i had the old 2 dog beagler , used for 6+ yrs. without any trouble and service.
the small bolts i use, can be screwed on-off by hand, the nuts being on the outside. you can also double-nut them but screw them on before grinding your bolt flush to make sure it's long enough.

To start with, I love Tritronics products. I am on my second set of Beagler 3-way collars. The only complaint that I have is the actual collar itself. It leaves a lot to be desired. It is too wide and much too long for a beagle. The best move that I made was to replace the collars with shorter, narrower collars. I am not sure of the width, but I believe I used 3/4 inch width versus the 1 inch that came with them.
More importantly, the single hasps that come with the collars are not very dependable. All my collars are now double hasps. Much more dependable.

Jason, I must have got a bad set of FS (not CS) from Inotek because a month after the warranty ran out one quit and then the other quit not long after. It was like they were timed to go out with the warranty. I called Inotek and they were no help except offering a very very small rebate on buying some new ones. I can’t afford to buy collars every year and I could not get them refurbished either which was my biggest disappointment. Glad your collars worked longer than mine. I tell you what really sold me on Tritronics was a bird hunter who had one that was 10+ years old – that is what I want out of mine.

I am a tritronics man. I own both innotek and tritronics collars. I have never had problems out of the tritronics, but I have had to send the innotek back already and it is not even a year old. I do agree that the collar on tritronics leaves a little to be desired but I will go with Darrin's recommendation now.

My Tri-Tronic's collars would come unfastened also,, So I bought new collars with better buckles,,and I havn't had any problems.
this is alot easier then taping or fastening with a bolt or inner tupe.

Buy new collars with the flat buckle (maybe called conway buckle).
Shock collars are to expensive to take a chance on looseing them. 21" and they will not come loose.

The buckel on the dummy collar is by far the better buckle. I took the buckle off the dummy and placed it on the real thing. Since then I have never had any trouble.

Just another satisfied customer with TT . I was away from beagles for about 13 years. When I owned them previously I had purchased a LR70 from TT. When I got back into the little hounds I went and looked for my old collor and found it no longer worked I called TT and they offered to refurbish it for me or I could trade it in on a new collor. I bought a three odg beaglerXL and they gave me 40 % off for my old collor. As someone else allready said I would buy any other brand. Good running and tight lines
