I bred a Ranger Dan female to an ALL Gay bred male....Only had two pups, but the male I had was VERY hard hunting, very energetic, would outcheck most dogs.....The male I bred to was 5/10 speed with complete control of line, and hard hunter.....I wouldnt want dogs that slow but the cross worked well for me as I ended up with male 7/10 speed, good control, ton of hunt, my male had extra mouth that got worse if he didnt run enough, his mother has little extra mouth so wouldnt blame that on the gay bred sire....I would cross a fast bitch with that line again.....Other pup in litter has never been in the woods, guys wife made it a house pet.....

I think if you do a search you will a bunch of info on this subject. Other than that i can tell you i spent several days with Mr Reese maybe a year prior to his death. I think he like a dog with intelligence, good looks, medium speed with line control. He spent many a hour on the mountains in Hickory Nc. running with good friends. I can tell you this. He told me if i ever was to breed the female i got from him that i should check on Indian Hills Major. He told me he thought this would be a good cross on his dogs.I guess some folks have gone many directions from slow slow to pretty darn fast but i would say most gay dogs would be line control medium speed..pm if you would like i can tell you a little more.

We have a little Outcross Gay female named Molly.

She is a great gun dog nice line control and alot of HUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She might be a 6 on speed good check work but is very quick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When she locks on a rabbit she is hard to hang with.

Sound like I need to be looking more in to this line of dogs I don't like alot of speed I would like more linecontrol and check work out of my dogs than the speed.

Shooting Match,
Get yourself a pup and you will not be disappointed. One of the smartest bloodlines I have ever seen. I contribute their line control and check work to this intellegence. Every dog that I have ever had that retrieves has had Gay blood somewhere in the pedigree. They are easy on the eyes to. This is my 11 month old that is heavy Gay/Bedlam breed. The only thing I fault him on is he needs a little more ear.
