Very Sad Day
I had to put one of my best hounds i ever owned, down today. Borderceeks Miss Emily. She was almost 15 years old. I let her out to run the other day and get some exercise like i always do. But when i went to get her out of my training pen i couldn't find her. She was all gimped up laying under a balsm tree not doing very well i think she had a stroke while running a hare. I carried her out and put her in the house. She was very confused and kept falling over. I took her to the vet and DR Dave said that she had a big mass in her abdomen it wasn't long for her. DR Dave is one of my best friends and he has hunted over my hounds many times. So here two grown professional men shedding tears for a hound. But mind you This was not just a ordinary hound she has had about 3000 rabbits killed over her in her lifetime. I have herd that if your lucky you might own one of those once-in -a lifetime hounds., and i did. I just laid her to rest today. But the memories of her chasing thoes snowshoes will never die. Her ashes will be spread over are best honey hole!! I will try to post a picture of her later

Sorry for the loss of Miss Emily, she must have loved you very much to work so hard for so long. I'm glad she had a good life and an owner who gave her the chance to do so much of what she was born to do. I'm sure you both will always have many happy memories.
My deepest sympathy,
NYH

loss
Thank you for all your kind words. Only a person that has had a bond with a hunting dog knows how it feels. Its a part of you. Count the hours that the two of you are together.

Sorry to hear about your dog. I just put down my Doberman two weeks ago. This dog wasn't a beagle, but had no fear of running with them. He was an awesome family dog that went everywhere with us and is deeply missed. Fortunately all of my beagles are in good health. My oldest is only 9 years old but showing signs of old age. I'm dreading the day i have to put her down

Tom, I'm real sorry to hear about Emily. I'm sure it will be hard to cope with her loss.. I know you have a bunch of good ones there but it's the hardest to loose the great ones!! You've got a good line of dogs there and some coming up. We can only hope they turn out half as good as her.. Keep'em Running. Dave Martin.
P.S. I too love the set-up on your truck. I tell everyone I see about it.. What a rig!.
