Warddog,
Have you got the special on the 21/17 chick/rice "The Pride" this month?
I've got to get another ton before Sunday, $2. off per bag, ends this month...
From what I've seen, these folks are in business to provide quality food for "hunting dogs" ;) ... Patch

I looked on the Pride web site and didn't see the 21/17 chick/rice feed listed. Can someone list the ingredients of the feed and what you pay for it.

what are you paying for the Purina products ? i feed Blackgold and pay $15.00 per 50lbs and find it a very good feed. alot less stool, very shiny coats and lots of energy. i feed one cup per day and on days when dogs are ran real hard they get two cups. what i was told about grains is that corn is just a very cheap filler and has no benefit to the dogs diet. the vet school at the university of Tenn said that the best meat a dog can get is fish. why don't feed companies use it instead of chicken by-products.

I have a bitch with 3 wins and several other places in 15" class AKC SPO, 2 years old and she was fed Purina Dog Chow during her trialing year. Had all the endurance and strength for all her series....Purina makes a good product period, buy a bag of each and see how your dogs reat and respond the best and that should make your decision easier after seeing the results first hand.. Good Luck

pz,
The special brings it down to $13.75, it's good enough feed I'll pay that. I try to load up when good feed goes on special.
I don't have a bag in front of me to quote you the ingredients right now. It's the new blend in a bright green bag, the colour you like to use on a spinner bait.
They also have a new chick/rice 26/20 @ $16. per 50# in a bright orange/bubblegum coloured bag, another good one...lol
I think the guy who designs their food bags likes to fish also...lol...as he's used two of my favourite colours for baits... ;)

update...

been feeding pro plan beef and rice and purina ONE beef and rice since the beginning of this topic. lately ive been using mostly purina ONE as they always have good coupons. we've had a fairly cold winter so far and im feeding less of the purina now than what i normally feed during the summer of my old brands i have tried. i figure im using 25% less food in the winter months and the dogs have easily maintained good running weight and are full of zip. coats are nice but ive never had trouble with that. waste is a big surprise. only getting about a 1/3 waste of my old food. that means a lot!! i had originally planned on using the pro plan but with all the coupons for ONE, i think i will stick with it. the ingredients look very similar to my uneducated eye anyhow and performance has been the same. i would say that either choice is a winner.

Here's the ingredients on The Pride 21/17 in the nice green bag with orange trim: I think the 26/20 ingredients are pretty much the same.

Chicken by Product Meal, Ground Brewers Rice, Ground Yellow Corn, Poultry Fat (stabilized with mixed Tocopherols and Citric acis) sugar extracted beet pulp, wheat flour, animal digest, fish meal, flax seed, salt, brewers dried yeast, garlic, potassium chloride, choline chloride, zinc oxide, calcium carbonate, ferrous sulfate, zink sulfate, vitamin E supplement, niacin supplement, selenite,coppersulfate,d-calcium pantohenate, folic acid, vitamin A acetate, manganous oxide.d-biotin, menadione dimethyprimidinol bisulfate (source of vitamin k), vitamin B12 supplement, vitamin D3 supplement, riboflavin, pyridoxine hydrochloride, ethylenediamine dihydriodide, thiamine mononitrate, sodium selenite.

Been feeding it for about a year now with good results.
