2dogs 2problems
i have a male that is 2 (baxter), and a 5yr old male (peanut). Baxter won't shut up and Peanut will not open up.. Both are very good dogs. will jump and just blister a rabbit. the thing is Baxter barks at every cold trail he comes to and i can not get him off of it. He is a LOUD dog and my female who is a yr 1/2 always comes running when he opens up...will his cold nose influence here to start doin his trick? Peanut gets on a trail and never opens up until he is smack dead on the rabbit..which isnt bad.. except the other dogs never get a chance to run it until the chase is almost over. any ideas on how to get one to shut up and the other to open up??

I'd get new dogs, if you don't like how those use their mouth. They are old enough that they will not change much.

Worth a Try
Hey Shawn,
Since you mentioned having a young female as well as these two males, how many other dogs do you run with them? If these female is a good dog, is capable of finding and jumping and running on her own, I would suggest taking all three out, keeping the two troubling males on leash until the female has one up and going. This will give her a chance to develop herself as well as take away the chance for the cold trailer to pull her to him on a cold trail. If you have other dogs capable of jumping and running on their own, you could use them as well even two or three if you have them to get the race going so the 2 troubled males will pack in to them. This is assuming that the 2 males will hark in and honor the other dogs. I would probably be more worried about the younger dog picking up Peanut's problem than the cold trailing. She may not have the nose to cold trail but she might learn to run silent to compete with Peanut, hopefully not! I don't have all the info, but maybe some of this will be helpful! Good Running to you! Dexter
